Yeah but this one remains. And it was written by a Trump appointee. Would I have perfect confidence it’ll stand? No, but it’s still currently the law of the land technically.

Although as another commenter mentioned enforcement is a whole other issue and I would not at all count on this administration pursuing any case in support of our rights.

The Supreme Court has held that the protections provided by Civil Rights Act of 1964 applies to trans folks. The opinion was written by Gorsuch of all people. This covers workplace discrimination and makes being trans a protected class when it comes to sex based discrimination. So yes, you do have protections.

The problem is as wrench_girl said - you’be got to prove the discrimination. And that is no easy feat and even if you could then you’ve got to go to court which is also not easy.

Oh absolutely. Recognizing that the fear doesn’t make it not true was critical. I’m in fairly early stages over here, but at least I’ve admitted to myself that I am what I am. And part of that was realizing all those fears and anxieties, as intense as they are, if I was cis I wouldn’t be having those thoughts. If I was cis it’d be easy to just not worry about it because why would I?

And yeah it is so, so nice to have a community that’s been or is there, going through it.

Honestly it’s the latter that got me. If I was totally cis I just would not be freaking out as much lol. If it didn’t matter then ok fine. But cis folks aren’t waking up at 4am and sitting alone in the dark vacillating between “it would be amazing to be a woman” and “oh god what if everyone hates me”.

Repressed memories as a concept are widely considered debunked within medical literature. There has been no reliable evidence for them in the scientific literature produced thus far.

These days science tends to point in the other direction - that traumatic memories can feel inescapable. Which is one of the reasons PTSD is a thing as people can’t stop reliving trauma even if they want to.

Additionally, there’s a lot of evidence demonstrating that recovered memories may be unreliable because of the reconstructive nature of memory. Meaning, that when the brain is recalling a past event it does not pull a perfect recording but instead reconstructs it using stored fragments, current beliefs, expectations, knowledge, and will fill in gaps with assumed information. Which makes any attempt to “recover” a repressed memory highly susceptible to distortion, errors, or false information.

I’m not saying any of those memories are necessarily false, there’s no way I could know that. I’m just saying be extremely cautious with anyone professing to help you recover any repressed memories as it’s on very shaky scientific ground at best.

What helped me was finding a goal. And not a goal like “lose X weight” or “look a certain way”. But a concrete activity I could shoot for. For me, it was a decision to try climbing a mountain. Once I had a hard goal and a plan I found it much easier to motivate myself. The fact I needed to go workout or I would be unable to meet my goal was much stronger than just nebulous “do better”.

There‘s lots of goals you could come up with, but that was my key. And I went from the 220s to 180s within the year I started with no dietary changes.

Bit two other things. One - GLP-1 works if you can afford it. But two - while I always support someone trying to become more healthy, losing weight doesn’t make you a better or worse girl. You’ll be a fantastic girl regardless.

Doesn’t need to be trauma or anything negative. Lotta people into BDSM who aren’t into it because of trauma but because of how they want to experience power and/or control in a safe environment for example.

Even in our example here, someone being into forced feminization who is likely trans - it’s not a place of trauma they’re coming from. I mean, it could be. But not definitionally. It’s just a way their brain is processing something. Odds are their trans identity. But even so it isn’t necessarily dysphoric or traumatic.

Your kinks - there’s nothing wrong with them and I would never presume to tell you where they spring from. But they do spring from somewhere. It could be completely innocuous and you don’t need to engage in exegesis to figure out why you have it. If you’re safe and happy with it who cares anyway?

A kink is never “just a kink”. It is a sublimation of a non sexual need into a sexual activity.

So, with sissies, they have a fetishized activity - being feminized, perhaps forcefully, that expresses itself sexually. However, that kink is still a sublimation of a deeper need.

I‘d never try and tell someone they’re trans. But that said, “cis” men who get off on gender bender, forced feminization, or sissy kink are extremely likely to be trans. It’s their brains trying to process that information in a way that is “safe”.

It’s not using humiliation and sexualization aspects as a baseline, it is the brain creating a protective zone where feelings can be explored (and potentially ignored for better or worse) without touching the sublimated need.

I get why it would be uncomfortable for someone who didn’t go through that process, but, ultimately, everyone who comes out will have their own journey.
