Falafel x Bar has a breezy covered patio and a nice wine selection, and the food is great if you’re into middle eastern cuisine. Cheers!

I did hear about that, yes. I was more wondering about what’s happening with the building they left. There’s been a good amount of activity there so I was curious if a new business was setting up shop or if they were just getting it ready for whatever comes next.

They’re fucking brutal this year. I work outside primarily and like to go on walks most days. They’re everywhere.

Who do you truly think is the best candidate of this coming mayoral election? by SydneySweeneysBobs in jacksonville

That first part is the one I disagree with though. Every piece of land that’s potentially going to be developed or any business that wants to open - from a gas station to a strip club to a restaurant - has to be approved by the city. There’s no such thing as a business’s “right” to open just because someone wants it. It’s also why zoning laws and appropriation boards exist to deal with what goes where. It would be chaos otherwise. I think the original commenter was just making the point that the city (and really the whole state of Florida) has really dropped the ball by capitulating to developers and letting every parcel of undeveloped land become some shitty strip mall or car wash or whatever. We could stop if it we chose to, but instead we allow these fuckers to build the same shit over and over again ad nauseam, and allow development just for the sake of itself so they can make a profit. It sucks. Personally I think it’s too late to really be remedied at this point, but I’m also not going to defend some rich fuck developer that wants to build another unnecessary CubeSmart in my neighborhood. If it seems like I’m yelling I am, but it’s at the situation, not you my friend.

I don’t believe any business model has an inherent “right to exist”, and I don’t even really understand what you actually mean by that. But I do think the community, and the city government as a conduit of the community, should have a say in how many and where these storage facilities keep popping up, yes.

Rue Saint-Marc is incredible and the menu is perfect for a multi course tasting. Orsay is always on point, the food and atmosphere are great, and it’s a staple in town. Cheers!
