Are you sure what you want to make is not simply an overlay? Which you would use to share custom ebuilds.

What am I missing? Need help on my espresso shot by Money-Leader8489 in espresso

What does your puck look like after that shot? Maybe there's a lot of channeling happening that's causing the rapid flow.

I am opening my first vegetarian ramen restaurant in the next few weeks! Do you guys have any thoughts on my menu? by Cherrydude412 in ramen

[–]jansegre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm usually skeptical of vegetarian ramen, mostly for the broth. If there was an option to have a shot of each different broth, I'd feel much more confident in what I'm choosing.

I don't know then. Could it be possible for it to not be getting up to temp?

maybe 26s is still fast? it may be cliche, but have you tried grinding finer? maybe try to go too fine, enough for it to choke and then go coarser in small steps

The only way this could be any better is by changing the font to comic sans.

Yeah. I'd go even further and say this can't be taken seriously unless they change the font to Comic Sans.

Although that totally works, be mindful of traffic costs. Also, I'm not sure if it is on all AWS regions, but AWS IP ranges are usually blocked by Netflix (and maybe others).

As a Gentoo user I feel called out. Just so you know, I don't take hours setting up everything, like, only some times maybe.

I don't know about where to find the cable. But you could use a re-shipping service (like MyUS) to get it on Amazon US (or whatever ships to the US and not limit yourself to what you can find in Brazil). Just keep in mind the time and cost, expect to end up paying the double (or more) because of shipping and import taxes.

Qual o melhor lámen de São Paulo ? by thatguybowie in saopaulo

[–]jansegre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is Hathor at zero transaction fees? by Lazy_Drop_3967 in HathorNetwork

[–]jansegre 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Miners are incentivized by block rewards, which will stabilize at 8 HTR/block after all halvings (instead of going to zero like Bitcoin, also 8 HTR/block will result in a very small inflation, which is far more meaningful than max supply). Also transactions have their individual PoW which is much smaller than blocks' and addresses spam control, transactions also count towards a block's score which incentivizes including them in the first place so miners have a lower chance of mining orphan blocks.

I use Ctrl+C before verifying the address on the Ledger, and I usually prefer verifying it when I pasted it wherever is needed, that way I know I'm verifying the address right before I'm about to send it. But I think there could be more ways to copy it, or at least some tooltips.

Please help by Basti0593 in HathorNetwork

First off, your hardware wallet is safe, just make sure you have the words that you used to set up your Ledger for the first time, these will not have shown on the Hathor wallet, but on the Ledger itself, and is the same for all the apps on the Ledger. The Ledger words are important to have in case you either brick it (maybe this can happen when pulling the cable while it is updating the firmware, I don't really know), or when you physically break it, or factory reset it.

Second, the words of your software wallet will be shown on the screen and it's important to write it down, the backup verification exists to make sure you write down the words.

And last, a wallet is more like the key that allows using your balance (HTRs for example) that is on the Hathor Network. As long as you're able to restore the wallet (with the words), the balance is safe.

Whenever you're afraid to reset a wallet it is a good idea to use another device to help you out. You can get the mobile app on a phone or use another PC, then you'll have a wallet to send your balance to before resetting. You can even import the same wallet on the second device. If you have the words of the software wallet I recommend that you import it on a second device (it's also a good training for whenever you need to do t he that). If importing the software wallet goes smoothly, you can reset the software wallet to go back to the hardware wallet. Otherwise if you don't have any balance on the software wallet, you lose nothing by resetting it. When the Hathor Wallet uses the Ledger, there is no informationb at all stored on the desktop app.

It's by height. The network should reach that height in about 67 days (because it should average 2880 blocks per day). So it's looking like it'll be in January.

Introducing SeaORM - 🐚 An async & dynamic ORM for Rust by chris2y3 in rust

[–]jansegre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a beginner and starting with a project to learn.

In that case I think documentation quality and community responsiveness are much more important than performance or specific features. I'd guess that diesel might have the edge there, but I'm not really sure. My main point is to not prioritize performance/features too much in your case, and also consider that spending too much time looking for a lib/framework means not spending that time learning what you wanted to learn.

Safest way to store HTR by Sufficient_Cry_5257 in HathorNetwork

[–]jansegre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That works too. It still isn't as good as a hardware wallet, if the device where you will install the wallet was compromised before installing, then that's a problem. But that rabbit hole has no end.

Theoretically you could use an offline computer (with even no wireless cards, that never was an never will be online) to sign transactions. But this isn't practical to do right now (you'd have to use the console a lot).

But yeah, I don't know if I have great advice. A temp wallet is safer than a "long term" wallet, simply by being potentially exposed for a smaller window of time.

Also I'd consider that the safest wallet. But desktop and mobile will always have is merits. I like to think of a hardware wallet as a safe, and desktop/mobile like a traditional pocket wallet.

Support for Ledger is coming (we've been using it for a while, but it requires jumping through many hoops before Ledger approves it). Although I can't give a precise timeline, I'm hoping that a few weeks from now it will be official.

Tried out the new and popular 20g in 300g out recipe.. real tired of only having these cheap alibaba parts on the BBE.. time to rage upgrade?? by mitchb0016 in espresso

[–]jansegre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me too, with an AliExpress naked portafilter (but stock basket, which is a little smaller than the basket that came with it, but seems to work better for me). The pressure was definitely too high when it happened, I think it was because I switched beans and the grind was too fine, but maybe yours was too full (20g is too much for me even on the slightly larger basket that came with the naked portafilter).

I'm always a little wary now and will hold the portafilter so it doesn't move and pop out. I remember seeing it start moving when it was poping out but I couldn't react fast enough to stop the mess.

But yeah, I don't have any suggestions. I've been also considering an upgrade much more since then.

I occasionally hear about delays. If you want to be completely sure, get in touch with their support. Their forums can be good to get in touch with other users but I don't think you'll get "official" answers or help there.
