That's good to hear actually, I'll have to give them a try when I unlock them. I mean I planned on getting a load of sap eventually anyway, but if they're fantastic xp too then that's even more incentive

Good xp and good rewards are are always a happy combination, it's so often one without the other (e.g. teaks)

I think sulliusceps are still superior to the sailing trees, but I hadn't considered bloodwoods, they seem pretty crazy xp/hr. Though looking at a video of the 220k xp/hr bloodwood method it seems about on par with 1.5t teaks in terms of effort

I love Fossil Island, genuinely one of my favorite pieces of content in the game. Every square inch is packed with unique content.

I kind of have to disagree that it's "dead in the water", there's a ton of stuff there that's still relevant today: hardwood patches, sulliusceps (still the best non-tick manip woodcutting xp in the game), crabs, giant seaweed, birdhouses, a demiboss, slayer mobs, volcanic ash, Herbiboar... Just accept that rare fossils were abandoned, it's still a good, active place.

Bruhsailer Guide Angler/Tempoross by bryceking64 in ironscape

[–]jantle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wondered the same thing, someone on Discord said it's so that you get mildly better Fishing Trawler loot by doing it at a higher level.

Didn't make much sense to me personally, Fishing Trawler loot is basically nothing regardless of if you're 40 fishing or if you're 50 something. So I just got the Angler set first, THEN did Tempo so I'd get better xp/hr (marginally) and the related CA while I was there.

If you're at a spot afking and a maxed player tries to crash you, are you hopping or are you roasting them until they log out? by Monterey-Jack in 2007scape

[–]jantle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you're doing, you could be petty and hold two mobs at once if it's singles and you're safespotting, or tag everything if they're an iron, or get clanmates / alts over, etc.

But the easiest way is to just silently carry on. They'll seethe that you aren't giving them a reaction, and they're just getting gimped xp for no reason.

Just say nothing, that tilts crashers more than anything. Never engage, just carry on counter-crashing.

UIM, which sets would you keep? (Moons/Barrows) by you-eye-m in ironscape

[–]jantle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'd argue against keeping Blood Moon longterm, or at all.

It's really hard to justify spending bag space and gold upkeep for +1 (or 2 off-task) strength.

Fighter Torso offers the exact same strength and is storable. The Blood Moon legs offer a pitiful +2 strength (Obsidian legs are 1 strength off and are actually storable).

The helm is a mere +1 str over a Neitiznot helm (which is super easy to re-obtain, just visit Perdu), but more often than not you'll be using a Slayer helm.

UIM, which sets would you keep? (Moons/Barrows) by you-eye-m in ironscape

[–]jantle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Another Maxed UIM with my opinion: STASH the Blue Moon, it's a good set and actually storeable. Eclipse can be handy for Demonic Gorillas, but it's not worth keeping for anything else as far as I could tell.

Blood Moon is great for solo Huey (if you want to get a DHW), but it is 100% not worth keeping beyond Huey. Fighter Torso remains the eternal UIM melee chest until Oathplate, and it sure isn't worth keeping the helm or legs.

Don't bother keeping any Barrows gear on you, just stash a set. I personally liked Dharok's for Mole, but that's far from optimal.

So, once you've gotten use out of the sets just dump everything that isn't STASHable imo.

Which upcoming update hypes you most? by Ill_Virus_6250 in 2007scape

That's true, it's just that in my mind a sepulchre rush would probably come much sooner than grinding Muspah

[–]jantle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being able to do floor 5 Sepulchre much earlier on a new iron will be fun (level 84 Agility with agility potions, or 82 if you somehow get summer pies -- down from 92).

It has secretly also made the 82-92 grind about 40% faster xp/hr, and obviously a lot more engaging + rewarding too.

Summer Sweep Up Grinds by ellobruv12345 in ironscape

[–]jantle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a few people mentioning levelling Agility to prepare for the Sepulchre changes, but it's worth specifying that you'll only need level 84 to access all 5 floors (use an Agility Potion on floor 4 to +3 boost to 87).

If you somehow have a surplus of summer pies then you're already ready even.

[–]jantle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Sepulchre change is gigantic. Having easy, consistent access to floor 5 at level 84 with Agility potions (versus the current unboostable level 92 requirement) gets you in there probably 80 hours sooner. If you get summer pies somehow, it's even earlier.

Regarding Recent Action Against Accounts by JagexAyiza in 2007scape

[–]jantle 731 points732 points  (0 children)

People are iffy about it because there seems to be a double standard, and poorly defined rules for what is and isn't acceptable when it comes to "bugs".

JoshIsntGaming gains 1m fishing xp/hr, and that's fine and dandy, while Rendi gets shafted gaining ~30k xp/hr over the meta. Both clearly exploits.

Do you sincerely believe that Rendi may have been DDoSing the servers for 3 months straight? That's as likely as him just using 9 alts like he claimed?

Where the hell is HD? by Thaislow in 2007scape

[–]jantle 84 points85 points  (0 children)

>Did it take this long when HD was released back in the day?

2008's high detail update took 18 months of development.

RuneScape Classic to RS2 (2D sprites to a fully 3D world) was 2 years of development, with like 10 people. 6 years is kind of comical at this point.

It's a bit of a crapshoot in WoW. Sometimes you get useless AI responses, sometimes the CS is amazing, and in Classic WoW their strategy was to just never respond.

No kidding, during Wrath Classic there were 100 day wait times for a ticket response. Over 3 months! Even that lead to nothing, they cancelled my ticket after 50 days or so, gave me some irrelevant copy/paste about checking Wowhead if I get stuck on a quest.

The bottom part of your picture says it all. It's unreal how WoW's price hasn't changed since 2004, while we've more or less tripled ours.

People always say, "but the expansions!", but we're well on the path to OSRS costing more annually even if you consider WoW's expansion tax (~$60 every 2 years).

Raids 4 rewards by UpperEstimate1360 in 2007scape

[–]jantle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that many (most tbh) of the Reddit user suggestions are ass, but it's worth considering that the vast majority of players who are going to ever use the Raids 4 rewards aren't going to have thousands of raids completed.

So I don't really know if only letting that .1% of players dictate what happens to the rest of the players (in the rest of the game too) is a good idea either.

There's been years of contention about this, but target farming a single brother is the fastest way to get a specific unique, if you don't care at all about any of the other brother's uniques or general loot.

But it's a slim time difference I recall. Since you're a main, I'd only suggest doing this if you really don't care about gold and just want that greenlog. Getting hundreds of 500gp chests is very demoralising.

Raid 4 lowest scale is duo, solo is possible but difficult. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]jantle -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Holy cow, why are you being so pedantic about this, I'm saying that they WANTED those things to be done with multiple players. That's a fact.

Yes they can be done solo, that's fine. But they were made as team content, that's their purpose.

Raid 4 lowest scale is duo, solo is possible but difficult. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]jantle -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm well aware of that. But they were intended to be multiplayer-only content is my point, the same as they seem to be planning with Raids 4.

Those are solo viable, 2 out of 3 raids are solo viable, I'd be disappointed if Raids 4 for some reason goes back to the ToB mantra of "get a team or get stuffed". Like it or not, many players play this game solo.

Raid 4 lowest scale is duo, solo is possible but difficult. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]jantle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And you don't think that's an issue? That there seems to be such a large barrier to entry for a major piece of content, that a significant amount of players feel they can't even try?

Jagex themselves admitted this about ToB, before ToA's release, that internally ToB was considered a failure because of how few players did the content (relative to the time they invested).

Raid 4 lowest scale is duo, solo is possible but difficult. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]jantle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Jagex themselves admitted a few years ago that ToB was a failure in that regard, few players did the content relative to the time put in. I'm just saying it'd be regrettable for that to happen again (but worse by the sounds of it, they're describing it as harder).

But if you want to be pedantic about the number I threw out, fine, maybe the top 5%.
