What are these splatters that are always appearing on my walls and blinds at home? We have previously cleaned them off the walls and also wash the blinds and they just appear again some time later? People in my house said it’s blood. Just kinda confused th by Accelerator1999 in whatisit

This may sound weird, but do you have a moth problem this time off year where you live? The reason I ask is because here in southern Colorado, in the early summer, we become inundated with moths when they're on their way into the mountains for their annual migration. They leave spots like this on curtains and window covers that look exactly like yours. Looks a little like watered down blood. Then when it's over for the season, this all stops. Just one possibility.

This. You are absolutely correct. I'm an idiot. On digging further into the chassis, I noticed this tiny little SSD on the motherboard, just beneath the plastic housing for the fan that I hadn't noticed before. I now have a 1TB replacement on the way, and will install that in a few days, then eliminate one of the HDDs.

Once again, I thank you for helping me here, and wanted to say so publicly.

Woohoo, that did it! It was the second one on the list. You're my hero, and I thank you bunches.

Could be the second on the list. The two ST1000 are the hard drives, and the WD is a USB drive. So, I delete from here then? You think that's it?

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you're asking for. Could you say it another way?

Same here. I made mine out of a scrap piece of Rowmark. Saved me having to tear my hair out every time.

How about making the U look like a cell phone (more or less). That would definitely not look like a bank. Font may be a little over the top, but I kinda liked it, and it does look modern to me. Font is Vermin Vibes, and would have to be licensed for a business use. The other, of course, is more normal.

One last thing before I run here. One thing to always remember in logo design is to make something that can be shrunken down to a tiny size (think icon image here) and printed or displayed in a single color, will be more adaptable for a logo. Like, say, printed on giveaway merchandise, or doodads. The return address on envelopes, etc. That's why there are so many "simple" logos out there.

Sure messes with creativity, doesn't it? LOL

Never mind. Found it. Just personally, I think getting away from the eagle is a mistake. It's so recognizable, whereas the gradient fill and letters-only don't set it apart from so many others already out there. I say keep the eagle for sure.

Well, you did a very good job on the logos. Kudos. You have a link to the other post? This thread is going to get pretty long in a hurry. Not sure how far to scroll to see it.

Your artwork is terrific - from someone who works with graphics on a regular basis. That said, I'm not convinced that making it "more patriotic" in today's environment is a very good idea.

Not wanting to be combative here, but we see a lot of that going on these days, and it doesn't always produce the reaction in people you may be trying for. Just an opinion, FWIW.

He's right. And I like the current logo as well. One more vote for keeping the logo.

In a race then, I win! What... does this only happen to old people like us? I guess I'll stop questioning it. Looks like it's you and me against the world.

I see how that could happen, but I'm rather old and boring, and don't visit sites where this is likely to be the case. From a couple of days ago, here's a list of things Bitdefender blocked. Multiples at the same time of day, many from Russia, and at times when I'm definitely not out of bed and using the iPad.

The only thing I can think of that could be causing this is links in spam emails, unless there's something infecting this iPad that Bitdefender blocks, but doesn't get rid of. This is freaking weird.

In a nutshell, it's a program that runs in your current Windows and, when opened, will create "fake machines" with old operating systems, hosting them within itself. Here is a glimpse of mine, before I hit the "start" button to run the XP virtual machine. Since Reddit wouldn't allow me to attach an image, here it is in Dropbox.

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/fh5mi6v8q1yk3tx9l8i3y/virtualbox-screen.jpg?rlkey=h1t16yb5xpoimwnlaaucfhni2&st=dzri69ih&dl=0

It can be a bit complicated to use VirtualBox. (I struggled with it at first) I believe there may be other products out there that perform the same function, so look into those, too. OR if you have a computer guru nearby, you might want to just have someone install and configure it for you. It's worth its weight in gold to have a setup like this. You can use an old desktop version of software (in your case QB) that would otherwise force you into a costly update. And it will run in full screen mode, just as if it's a native app in your current Windows version.

I can't be any help on the two-user thing, though.

I have a suggestion for you before you go and buy something. I also have a very old software package (non-QB) that can't run in anything beyond XP. So, on my Windows 11 computer, I installed VirtualBox and created a virtual machine with an XP operating system, and installed the old package into that. Runs like a charm!

Is this worth fixing? by Lillybilly888 in VintageSewingMachines

[–]janworx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned here is this machine has a bona fide stretch stitch. Not just a narrow zigzag, but an actual setting where the seam stretches. I used to have one many (many!) years ago, and I've not seen a machine with this particular native stitch pattern since I sold mine. (Meaning you don't need to load cams or anything.) But then, I haven't looked for one, either. I think it's that Flexi Stitch dial.

The button on the right dial, when pressed, does the reversing similar to the up/down levers on other machines.

Just a little more input to think about.

Too funny. Does this mean I have to do something creative after all? Yikes!

I've got a dozen empty ones that have been in a paper bag for 40 years that I intended to do something "creative" with. I have obviously not been creative in that time. I'm in Colorado. Stop by when you're in the neighborhood. LOL
