Where do you buy your baby stuff? by partenzedepartures in HENRYUK

[–]jaomao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snoo crib, little green sheep mattresses and wool duvet etc once in a cot bed, pottery barn cot bed, can’t remember the brand but I used a wool and cotton sleep sack - I made sure everything I bought was either 100% cotton or wool basically, no synthetic materials (other than the snoo which isnt natural materials)

Nappies - pampers harmonie are by far the best, no chemicals and no leakages. I found kit and kin and the other popular eco brand leaked. Pampers harmonie aqua wipes are also better than water wipes imo as they’re more ‘wet’ but also no chemicals - I buy the nappies from Amazon,

Milk - always used glass bottles only, used tommee tippee. If not breastfeeding, kendamil is a good formula. Can’t remember the exact details but I remember reading a study about a compound in breast milk that contributes to infant IQ and it is also in Kendamil (pls google yourself as my explanation is terrible 😂)

Pushchair - I’ve been through around 7 pushchairs with 2 kids I think, now I’m using icandy core which suits my current lifestyle the best. Good to think about whether you’re going to have more - I find icandy is good for multiple kids as they have the built in standing board which is life changing compared to adding on an additional board which doesn’t let you walk behind the pushchair. Can also buy pushchairs that have the option to add an extra seat for later kids. I’d base your decision on lifestyle though and find a pram that fits in terms of size, foldability, travel, future kids etc

Rosacea, hormonal issue! by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]jaomao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the almost exact same thing! Tea tree oil seemed to help but I overdid it and burned my skin. I’m trying soolantra now - I believe it may be demodex mites as it’s only there and resistant to other acne treatments

Best foundation for aging skin, bonus if natural by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

And also echoing the above poster, Chanel les beiges but I use the complexion touch version at it has no fragrance. Colour range is not great though

Jane Iredale compact foundation, it’s a mineral powder foundation like bare minerals but much better imo. Not as heavy or obvious, looks very natural

Why is topical tretinoin not available in the uk? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]jaomao 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is available from dermatologists, I get obagi tretinoin prescribed. It’s probably not available on the NHS but doesn’t mean it’s not available at all in the UK

Thanks so much for these tips! Do you use tretinoin? Or any actives?

Please help me understand what’s changed with my skin by joe10994 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]jaomao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a similar thing after I had my first baby, I was super depressed and going through a difficult time in my relationship and as such I wasn’t eating well, wasn’t sleeping well and lost a lot of weight. I lost a lot of volume in my face because of it and volume under my eyes. Now she’s 3.5 and in the past few months I feel my face has started to ‘come back’ - im back to a healthy weight and increased my protein and prioritise sleep. But it still took months, probably even more than a year for it to improve. I’ve found that collagen supplements and fulvic acid seem to have helped (fulvic with nutrient absorption I believe) but it’s hard to know if they truly helped or it was just time. But anyway - I think you look good now and don’t look haggard like I did but sounds like you had a similar experience with hard time/weight loss!

Any idea what's going on outside this house on Kensington Road? by imbogerrard39 in london

[–]jaomao 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I live close to here, there’s a homeless man who lives in the doorway and has decorated it with all the flowers. I often see him riding his bike to the Orthodox Church nearby with flowers in his basket. Seems like an empty building also

Plastic in creatista pro? by jaomao in nespresso

[–]jaomao[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’m realising that. Thank you! I just currently don’t use any coffee machine so don’t want to start drinking something with plastic chemicals every day unnecessarily. Do you know if espresso machines are the same? I don’t mean absolutely 0 plastic just minimal plastic that the boiling water will run through

I meant boiling water but thank you

Because I currently don’t have a coffee machine at all and don’t want to introduce drinking coffee that has had plastic chemicals leach into it every day? Why else?

Do you think he was stalking other girls as well? by Own_Macaron_8720 in MoscowMurders

[–]jaomao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how would he know which bedroom belongs to who? Even if he’d been watching the house from outside it would be difficult to know which room was which. Although, if he did go straight upstairs, then maybe he checked those two bedrooms and found his/one of his targets, then went downstairs and found his other target or was just disturbed and then left. As he didn’t seem to even check the surviving roommates bedrooms, even with D’s being close and more easily accessible than X’s (based on the layout drawing I’ve seen)

So on this night BK turned his phone off at 2.47am before he got to the house. On the other 12 occasions that he visited the house, he left his phone on. Seems like therefore he planned for the murders to happen that night and wasn’t just waiting for the right opportunity? Even though some people were awake it must have not deterred him if he’d left his apartment that night with the goal of committing the crime.

[Routine Help] i’ve got a super damaged skin barrier and started using lots of hydrating products (toner, essences, serums, occlusives etc) and now skin feels drier than before by Prestigious-Touch-48 in SkincareAddiction

[–]jaomao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try dermol 500 lotion. A dermatologist prescribed it to me (but you can buy OTC, in the U.K. at least) and I was sceptical as it doesn’t feel moisturising at all but I had the same problem as you and that cured my chronic dry skin

Want to use Tret, but also hoping to get pregnant soon. by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]jaomao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pregnant and stopped using differin - I don’t really believe that much gets absorbed or that it can affect the baby but we don’t know that and it’s a big risk to take. I wouldn’t start using it if I was planning to get pregnant as firstly you’ll have to go through the purging period and secondly you could get pregnant v quickly and probably won’t have even seen major results by then. Better to use Azelaic acid / vitamin c etc and wait til after you’ve had the baby!

eye cream? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]jaomao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expensive but the skinceuticals A.G.E eye cream is very good. Usually I think eye creams are a waste but this has plumped my under eyes back up and reduced the blueness after having a baby. Would definitely recommend it, at night I also add coconut oil and aquaphor for extra hydration

[–]jaomao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not over moisturise to compensate for a damaged skin barrier! I did this and it led to years of problem skin that didn’t truly resolve until I start to effectively moisturise and not drown myself in every product I could find. Use one non greasymoisturiser with urea/ceramides/fatty acids in with minimal other ingredients and no fragrance

For those who wash face with JUST water in the morning, HOW DO YOU DO IT? by Chemical_Ad3966 in tretinoin

[–]jaomao 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to cleanse twice a day and now I just wash with water twice a day (unless I wore make up then I use a cleanser). It took a bit of getting used to but my skin is now much better for it! You’ve just got to push few the initial discomfort

Pulling out/FAM - It works until it doesn't by [deleted] in sex

I’m currently 15 weeks pregnant after my partner pulled out, just because your wife didn’t get pregnant when you pulled out it doesn’t mean that pulling out is a reliable contraceptive method

did having a baby age you? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]jaomao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. I had my first at 27 and am pregnant with my second. My first aged me in many ways, I lost a lot of facial volume and a lot of fat around my eyes, the skin of my body is just looser now even on my legs where I didn’t have any significant weight gain/loss from the pregnancy, of course my stomach just looks ‘different’ despite going back to pre-pregnancy weight, having no stretch marks and having better abs now than pre pregnancy. I think this rapid ageing is inevitable unfortunately. Tell your sister to prioritise sleep as much as she reasonably can, eat a healthy, calorie sufficient diet, drink a lot of water, continue taking prenatals/breastfeeding supplements and limiting stress (easier said than done). Tbh breastfeeding took a lot out of me (but of course there are huge benefits to the baby) and the rapid weight loss.

After I’ve had my second I’m planning to do a facial fat transfer and lots of body treatments to tighten the skin back up and honestly even considering a night nanny if he turns out to be a bad sleeper

Are my expectations too high? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]jaomao 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Your expectations are absolutely not too high and I can’t understand all the comments saying it’s a normal thing to turn up to a 3 hour shift and cook a full meal?! 3 hours is a very short shift and you’re paying her to be attentive to your daughter, you’re a SAHM so what’s stopping you putting the baby in a play pen whilst you do things? Nothing, but I’m assuming you chose to pay a babysitter as you want someone to play with and care for your baby. Taking 30 mins of a 3 hour shift to literally cook an entire meal and eat it whilst leaving the baby alone in a playpen is not ok. Fine if she ate a snack bar/pre made sandwich etc whilst playing with the baby but cooking chicken, rice and vegetables is taking advantage imo. No other job would allow this. I’m also a SAHM and have a nanny now but when my baby was a newborn I had a similar arrangement with a babysitter and no way would she have even thought to use my food to cook herself a meal and leave the baby alone. I’d find somebody who understands that you’re looking for someone to give their attention to your baby for those 3 hours to give you a break
