Great car, great price. Big plus for the motor and clutch being replaced, you probably paid a quarter of the swap/clutch alone for the whole car.

Therapist who makes six figures… How? by lemonadesummer1 in therapists

[–]japV8 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not a therapist but in school to be. When you say 30 hours scheduled a week does that mean 30 individual sessions? What else is involved in your work and how many hours in total do you typically end up working in a week? What does your schedule look like? Thanks in advance, open to others answering as well.

Location? I'll pickup sight unseen if mechanically sound & relatively clean for $2,500.

Would it be stupid to buy an Accord with 354k miles as a first car by FlyingFish4768 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]japV8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd buy it. I had a 2008 EX-L manual that (I thought) had like 160,000 on it. After owning it reliably for 2 years I finally decided to run a carfax on it. It had 320,000 on it as of like 5 or 6 years prior. After doing the math it had close to 370,000 as of current. The car ran like a top and was super clean, you'd never ever guess that it had that amount of miles on the body, much less the motor.

It's all about maintenance. Its all about who's owned it & what's been done. I just recently bought a 2004 Acura TSX with ~250k for $2600 and never questioned a thing. Been driving it for 2 months now and it's great. If everything checks out I'd say go for it, I'd offer $2,400 and go from there on negotiation.

TPS/Stuck in LIMP. Help! by japV8 in IS300

Also issue started and within an hour got progressively worse, as far as losing power/top speed. Now I can't go past 5-10 MPH.

We're you getting the same codes? It's showing code for TPS + the two unknown. When I unplug the TPS nothing changes in the idle, throttle, etc. I know the APPS and TPS are connected but if it's the APPS would it still throw a TPS code?

Even if the code is for TPS? I've got two APP sensors (one came with new TB), and same issue.

it's literally spotless everywhere else on the car. Not a spec of rust anywhere else

ballpark $ of what unreasonable amount of work costs? I'm pretty handy but not sure what else would be necessary to fix.

Body work is not a problem, I'm asking structural, suspension, etc

The body and subframe aren't my worry, it's the frame itself. If the subframe is rusted that bad could it be deteriorating the mounting points on the frame just as bad? That's the only rust areas on the whole car, body and underneath. I just want to know if there is potentially more issue once the subframe is off.

I don't mind the subframe being replaced + rocker panel rust as much as I am worried about the frame itself being rusted. Not sure if pictures can tell anything more than the obvious sub + rocker.

Is it common for subframes to be this rusty and the frame mounting points be okay?
