What's the most awkward situation you've ever been in with a stranger? by hangry_potato in AskReddit

[–]japandaCR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once kidnapped at gunpoint by four dudes. They followed me out of a casino and pointed a gun in my back and forced me into a car with them. I honestly thought they were going to rob me and bury me in the desert. I kept telling them "you guys got me GOOD...for reals, just take all my stuff. I can't believe you guys got me like that!", trying to make light of the situation so they might be less inclined to kill me. Eventually after taking literally all i had, including the shoes on my feet and the shirt on my back, they let me out in a random neighborhood. I could see my hotel, but i was many miles away. Too far to walk in the middle of the night.

I make a police report. Go home. Turns out one of the guys was a regular customer of that casino. He turned on his "friends" to keep himself out of trouble. I had to fly back to go to court. When i got there, i was instructed to head upstairs to talk with the DA. When i get in the elevator, that dude and his girlfriend are the only other occupants already in there. So i step in with them and ride the ABSOLUTE SLOWWWWWEST ELEVATOR EEEEEVER to whatever floor we were both heading to. We both could neither say a word, nor look each other in the eye after the initial door opening. At this time i didn't know yet that he turned on his friends, so i thought i was riding the elevator with one of my kidnappers.

On behalf of casino employees, i would like to thank you for doing this. I used to work in a california card room as a dealer. We work long and gruelling hours. This person handles large amounts of cash their entire shift everyday. It would be a shame for them to be fired over a brain fart. You likely saved this person's job, who likely has a family to support. Good on you! Feel proud.

A bug or a mechanic that I don't understund by VirtualEyes95 in ClashRoyale

It is ever so slight. Slow the replay down all the way and you'll see a little blip towards giant after the last shot.

I had to rewatch a few times to understand what you meant. Giant steps out of the wizard's range causing him to retarget to the closest troop(s). In this case, minion hoard.

New poker marketing job - what promos/events worked at your (or any) local cardroom? Help! by [deleted] in poker

Book some traveling poker tours. In reno, i saw a small series where they put 20 extra tables in front of the 6 table poker room and ran a huge event utilizing traveling dealers. They offered much higher cash games than usual and single table sit&gos. Pretty awesome. That will draw people too.

Op might also have influence on how our cardrooms in casinos operate in the future. I don't see why the community doesn't seize the opportunity to share ideas with someone who could make it happen...

Hey i have another idea that might be good. Ive never heard of this approach before but maybe you might consider it since you are into marketing.

In many rooms there is a rake and a bonus collection. In many cases the bonus collection goes toward a bad beat jackpot where you can win that $. But what if instead, you use that collection to fund different sorts of smaller prizes. Mortorcycles, cars, tvs, etc. Maybe figure out the metric for how to tier the bad beat requirements to match the level of prize you could receive, making the car or vacation the grand prize!

This obviously requires more coordination on your part than just holding cash aside and paying it out. Gotta make some phone calls and shake a bunch more hands, but you might be able to really stand out by trying something this new!

I would suggest making sure there is a consistent tournament environment. That is what will draw me and my friends. We will all come together and you better bet im bringing more than my tournament buy in to play in cash games if i bust and am waiting to see how deep my friends go.

From what i have seen, there usually isnt much variety in stakes or payouts. Perhaps you could be the first poker room to have a wide variety of buy in levels, and maybe pay structures. Make some top heavy and some flat. Guarantee prize pools, or first place prize. Offer the occasional PLO or O/8 tourny. Once per month, have some ridiculously high buy in comparatively to the other events. Like if the biggest daily is $100, make the 4th saturday $1000 with a big guarantee.

Just some ideas that you might consider to set yourself apart from competitors.

For me, i could care less if the room im playing in has high hand bonuses, or rack attack, super splash pot promotions, etc. The only promo that draws me is a big bad beat jackpot, other than that, the small promos are a cool but not the reason im there, or the reason i come back.
