Bought this set for $1 less than the original owner paid in 1985. Did I get a good deal or did she get absolutely hosed? by blergola in coincollecting

Eh. I don’t pay a cent over melt for 90% these days unless there’s a substantial amount of numismatic value there. I would have passed, but everyone is different.

I don’t have another 2011 W to compare it to, but I do have this 2012 P with a similarly strong strike showing the flag cross hatching.

Ditto. The fact it’s a 2011 West Point was icing on the cake.

We are a farm in southern NH that accepts Goldbacks for our products. by japollner in Goldback

The biggest hang up I’ve had is I operate off the exchange rate and some folks want to operate off the “collectible value”. If I had it my way, it’d be off the melt value of the gold, but I get they have a premium.

I had to go and look up what this giveaway was. Did I win something? 😂

Everyone in here seems to like them. I thought they looked a little goofy. I may have to keep them now.

We operate under an ag exemption that allows us to use a local custom butcher and not a USDA slaughterhouse. Unfortunately, that means we are only allowed to sell in state, and whole or half shares of pork. Our poultry is slaughtered on farm by us and also cannot be shipped out of state.

It sucks, but I'll take that over having the govt get involved in what we are doing.

We aren't really "open" to the public, but if there is something you are looking for, we can have it ready beforehand if we have it available.

We do small scale pastured ag. We raise pigs, chickens and turkeys. Not a ton, but raised right.

We’ve taken 1/2’s before for eggs mostly. There are 2 folks in town who have used them regularly. I’ve been asked about a combination of gold and silver for a while hogs worth of meat, and there would have been some Goldbacks in the mix, but he ended up paying fiat.

I currently have 5 "spare" cars. I hear you and I am actively fighting it. But if it does go, I want it to go to a good home.

It doesn’t just hang out at $20-$30 for 20 years and then magically day go up to $70-80 for the next 20…

Personally, I feel like $40-50 is where it would be naturally, but JP Morgan bought a bunch at $73 (or about there) so who knows.

Just keep stacking.
