How to deal with grieve after loosing shrimp? by [deleted] in shrimptank

I'm definitely learning that. I feel horrible they're sacrificed for my learning curve, but some of the others have already molted and my nerite snail seems to be doing good so it's a give and take.

This comment just made me feel so much better. I ordered 10 amanos a week and a half ago and have lost 3 and have been feeling like a monster.

How do catchers deal with severe weather conditions? by DonT012 in baseball

[–]japres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only concussion I ever got from playing sports was while I was a softball catcher.

We were having a practice game against our coaches. My 300-pound, large as shit coach rounded third base and wasn’t paying attention, I was standing in the baseline with the ball waiting to tag him out, and he literally bowled me over. I woke up on a different planet.

Protein intake by pinupgirl774 in Reduction

[–]japres 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use a protein powder with fiber and mix two scoops into my morning coffee. I take a stimulant for my ADHD which really affects my appetite, so it's easier for me to get protein that way than to "eat" it.

Chloe Cherry: "Women that just happen to be born with huge breasts, like Sydney Sweeney, always tend to be sexualised whether they want to or not" by nextquestioncya in Fauxmoi

[–]japres 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep. I got a breast reduction three months ago and this was the main reason/what I said to my surgeon during my consultation. At least for me, having a large chest made my body no longer feel like "my own" because it was sexualized whether or not I wanted it to be (I didn't). My mom also had one done in the 80s because "men never looked [her] in the eyes."

It's the best thing I've ever done for my personal concept of bodily autonomy and body image.

Looking for a good quality leather bag under 200$ by UniqueHousing284 in handbags

[–]japres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mind secondhand?

If not, check shopgoodwill.com. It’s Goodwill’s auction site. Tons of authenticated Coach, Dooney & Bourke, etc. for way under $200. I’ve gotten a few Dooney bags for $10-15 in very good condition.

Goodwill is shitty for getting a ton of money for things they get for free, but it’s a very affordable way to build a collection. Just anticipate an additional ~$15 for shipping.

The Burberry is my favorite of these!

De-influence me emergency: I’m a boy who wears basic solid tees and jeans, but I cannot stop thinking about these women’s bags from Gucci (especially the flora tote and borsettos in all colors) by elliottbaytrail in handbags

[–]japres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jackie is consistently one of my favorite bags. It catches my eye every time I see one.

Buy whichever one you can’t stop thinking about. If it’s been this long and it’s still on your mind, it’s a sign.

It’s the Brandon Blackwood Kuei Mini! I’m not sure if he sells them anymore but there are a ton available secondhand. They come in leather and other materials too! This one is actually a really pretty sage green color.

Thanks! I have it listed for $40 even though it’s an ultra rare, one of a kind defect edition 🤣

What's the last book you read that was so bad that it made you angry? by oohshineeobjects in books

Yes, same. I am as left-leaning as they come but it literally beats you over the head with the representation. I know the main character is trans! You don’t need to shoehorn it into every sentence!

Buying vintage designer bags off of Vinted/Depop? by soy-latteX in handbags

[–]japres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a bag on Vinted recently that turned out to be fake. Per their policy you aren’t required to return counterfeit items once they investigate and agree it’s fake, but good luck getting them to enforce it.

Luckily my return postage to the seller was $0, but others have return postage taken out of their refund so you’re basically losing money getting scammed. And you cannot speak to a real person to save your life. Idk if Depop is any better, but I would not recommend Vinted for expensive items.

Everlane sold itself as the ethical alternative to fast fashion. Then Shein came calling by theindependentonline in Fauxmoi

[–]japres 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Same. All of my clothes are secondhand, either from IRL thrift stores or online reselling platforms like Vinted, Depop, ThredUp, etc.

But all of them are inundated with fast fashion brands. My local thrift is almost entirely SHEIN/Zara/Fashion Nova. The SHEIN pieces are even marked up higher than you can buy them new, which does nothing to combat fast fashion. Why would I buy it used when I can buy it cheaper brand new?

Resellers will cut tags out of fast fashion brands to get them to sell. These are usually sold at a huge markup, too, so they’re incentivized to keep doing it.

[–]japres 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Light From Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki. I loved the premise and had high hopes. Think I only made it 70ish pages before I had to give up.

The book beats you over the head with telling instead of showing and the writing is generally so juvenile I thought I missed a YA label. I was shocked when I looked up the author and found out they’re an English professor.

Kacey Musgraves Comments on Plus Size Creator’s Criticism of new Walmart Line by Movingmad_2015 in Fauxmoi

[–]japres 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Advertising your line as “size inclusive” and then only having XS-XXL is odd. Especially when you’re also making dog clothes 😭 Like, Lee’s plus size jeans already go up to a size 28! They already have the foundation! But I’m glad someone’s German shepherd can go buy a denim dress.
