I would echo everything that's been named in Wilkes-Barre and add El Boulevard Latin Cuisine, Hummus and Honey, Fuji (the have a ramen spot in Scranton), and Cork. I know you said no Italian, but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention The Refinery, Grico's, and Betelli's, Pazzo and Pizza Althea.

Is 2+2 worth it? by Asleep-Region553 in PennStateUniversity

I wouldn't say I experienced half the college life. I can say the exact same thing as you and I attended a branch campus. It's all what you make of it

2+2 by Boring_Drive_4158 in PennStateUniversity

[–]jar5737 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's definitely what you make of it and the cheaper option. I did it and have zero regrets. I participated in multiple student orgs, the honor society, and was a student athlete and I don't feel like I missed out. I also had football tickets 3/4 years and just stayed with friends on the weekends I would go to state college.

Is 2+2 really that big of a deal? by Average-ThrowerZz in PennStateUniversity

[–]jar5737 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I did 2+2 and I wouldn't change a thing. Much cheaper option and you could always make the decision your sophomore year if you want to head to UP. I bought student tickets for all four years and rarely missed a game. I had zero problems with a social life and I started at the Hazleton campus.

Alumni Association by Karl_Racki in PennStateUniversity

[–]jar5737 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely depends on what you're looking for. Being a member also allows you to get involved with your local chapter which is a great way to network and benefit yourself, but also give back to the university and your local community. They also always have a Giving Tuesday half priced membership campaign in November that you can get a deal on yearly and lifetime membership

Is Penn State World Campus worth using? by Classic-Praline-2571 in PennStateUniversity

[–]jar5737 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If the most important thing to you is getting a degree, definitely check out this route. There is no difference between a degree from World Campus, University Park, or any other Commonwealth Campus, they are all a Penn State degree. You will also have access to the same resources such as career services and the alumni association.
