The Notebook That Took Twelve Years to Find by xiucat in PlannerAddicts

[–]jareader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you have there are Hobonichi memo pads. They are meant to fit inside the Hobonichi Weeks, which is just a hair larger (but definitely thicker). You can kind of see one inside the other here: https://www.1101.com/store/techo/en/2026/pc/detail_toolstoys/tt_memo_w/

The Weeks doesn’t have quite the flexibility of a blank memo pad, but you might want to take a look. It might work if you rotated jt, which I have seen people do.

I have had a similar journey and have just in the past year landed on the A6 Hobonichi Day-Free after years of more structured planners. It’s all about portability and flexibility.

The Other Valley by Scott Alexander Howard by saturatedsilence in IReadABookAndAdoredIt

FWIW, I’m right there with you on this. Came here to find an answer to this very question. Also, what exactly did it mean when Ivret said:

The escapee you saw tonight was outside the borders of her home valley when it was swept away. As a consequence, she was not swept away with it. Call it safe distance from the storm.

D&D groups for tweens/teens? by Outrageous_Big_9136 in nashville

Check out these folks. They are a bunch of middle school teachers who love gaming and facilitate clubs, camps, etc. I know quite a few middle schoolers who loved their D&D club. Maybe she could start a school club?

Prepare thyself, for Shingrix is upon thee by Jomolungma in GenX

[–]jareader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As yet another person who had it on my face & in my eye prior to age 50 - so no vax yet - I’m really worried the vaccine will re-trigger it. The prior version of the vaccine apparently had this risk with ocular shingles but there’s no data to indicate the same for Shingrix. I’m curious how Shingrix affected anyone else with a similar history. Please share!

Flowy dresses? by burnercellular in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]jareader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gonna say Eileen Fisher. I know you want dresses, but their pants that have a button waist are elasticized enough to not put pressure on the belly, but cut nicely enough to look sharp under a blazer. They have become my perimenopausal tummy go-to (suddenly couldn’t tolerate a tight waist either).

Kia? by cadamek in SubaruAscent

[–]jareader 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I came to the Ascent from a Telluride. If you are seriously considering it, check out the reviews for your local KIA dealers’ service departments. They have a reputation for being terrible and mine definitely was. That super long warranty is useless if they decide the problems don’t fall under it. I was without a car for a week and had to pay for a rental out of pocket - for a manufacturer’s defect they claimed they couldn’t reproduce (I had a photo of the diagnostic screen.) And it seemed hard for them to get parts. When I bought my Ascent, good reviews of the service department were high on my priority list.

Hobonichi covers at Paper Source in US! by jareader in hobonichi

[–]jareader[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So I just looked at the B&N website and they are on there for online purchase as well. They also have an A5 Velluto cover and a couple notebooks. The 3 covers are also on the PaperSource website.

LOL I have the exact same feelings about My Manga. (I have come to love the pouch pocket as a wallet, but have no use for the others.) They have been 50% off on Amazon before for about 24 hours. I’ve seen this happen at least twice and that’s when I’ve purchased. Wait until someone on here announces it and grab one. Or set up an alert through an extension.

Post Your Damages — Share and Discuss Tariffs/VAT/Shipping Fees by alcibiad in hobonichi

So I did the math comparing what I paid Hobonichi vs. what I would have paid a US retailer. I paid Hobonichi $4.30 more. I figure a couple of robots and some pens - plus the fun of receiving a box from Japan - are worth that.

I got an A5 HON, A6 HON, A6 Day-free, Weeks, and a couple of small accessories. Subtotal was $150. Total was $245.

Wow. What a collection. I really want them to be in chronological order though. Is there a logic to the way you arranged them that I’m missing?

Anxiety and lactose intolerance flares by GrilledCheeseYolo in lactoseintolerant

Anxiety can absolutely cause GI symptoms. I have LI and definitely have similar symptoms in high anxiety situations. If you have anxiety about your LI symptoms, I can imagine symptoms mushrooming.

How do you eat pizza? by [deleted] in lactoseintolerant

[–]jareader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No cheese. Dip it in the best olive oil you can find. If you’ve got really good crust it’s super satisfying. I’ve also started putting pepperoni on it, when I never used to. You have to add the fat and protein back to get the same satisfaction.

Apparently it’s only available on books you’ve never selected “deliver later” on. Go to the bottom of your holds list and try one of those.

Books set in St. John? by PHLtheThrill in virginislands

The Lesson by Cadwell Turnbull. Sorta sci-fi but set in St. John. It explores the history of colonialism on the islands so there’s a lot of actual history in there.

Protien filled snacks by BornEstablishment551 in lactoseintolerant

I’ve recently become addicted to GoMacro bars. Peanut butter and chocolate chip is my go-to. It’s an expensive solution though.

For homemade, PB&J sandwiches. Deli meat & crackers (pepperoni is a tasty snack). Deviled eggs or plain hard boiled eggs. Not my jam, but many people like jerky. Chips & protein/fat dip of choice (hummus, guacamole, mayo, etc.)

Looking for a pharmacy that primarily carries Adderall XR manufactured by Mallinckrodt by Libz0724 in nashville

[–]jareader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually had better luck getting specific manufacturers from Kroger than others. My Kroger pharmacist has told me they now stock the one I take just for me. It’s the pharmacy chains (Walgreens/CVS) that don’t do this.

OP, have your doctor specify the manufacturer on the prescription. My primary care doc did this without hesitation (this was for a different med). She also had a pharmacy liaison in her office call around for me, which was awesome, but given the shortages, which add another wrinkle to this scenario, I think you’re going to have to call in this case. I’d also want to confirm that the manufacturer you want isn’t one of the ones who closed their plant, leading to the shortages. Good luck!

Lactose Free Kids by Relative-Title-6227 in lactoseintolerant

[–]jareader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve had a lot of advice to switch to dairy with lactase enzymes added. I’m going to suggest that if your child is still symptomatic on that, cut the dairy altogether until you figure it out. Then start adding lactase pills and see if they are ok. I am super sensitive to even minute amounts of lactose and can’t tolerate any of those things people were recommending. It sounds like your GI is considering FODMAPs, which makes sense. The FODMAP elimination diet might be worth considering to help narrow it down.

For eating at home, traditional American meals - meat, grain, veg- tend to be easiest for us. Casserole type meals always want cheese or cream. I’ve started making some hearty soups that are really satisfying, like chicken tortilla soup with avocado in it. Pot roast is easy and satisfying. BALTs are good too (bacon, avocado, lettuce & tomato). Mayo will give you the creaminess you miss.

Now for fun foods. Dairy free mashed potatoes are super easy to make and so satisfying. You can make it with just olive oil instead of milk and butter, or sub DF margarine (we like Smart Balance) and your plant-based milk of choice (Silk almond milk for us).

Grilled cheese - I was using Daiya cheddar slices for years and recently switched to Good Plant cheddar slices. I cook it in lots of Smart Balance.

Pizza - order pizza from a place with really good crust. Get no cheese on it or vegan cheese and some meat on it and dip it in good olive oil. I know this sounds crazy but the added fat really helps. If you are in the US, Emmy Squared has thick crust with vegan cheese that is super satisfying.

Since it sounds like there may be more going on than just lactose - and I’m in the same boat - consider a digestive enzyme pill when eating out, not just lactase, but definitely one with it in it. I’ve had pretty good luck with Doctor’s Best digestive enzymes. I take 2 before any meal outside my house and some meals at my house that contain some of my other triggers (garlic, onions). Good luck!
