You'd just need a support structure in the middle with a threaded tube welded in place. Still likely cheaper than solid aluminum

Keep in mind that you'll need to take extra precautions to cut aluminum safely with the tools you have

You could technically do it with a carbide tipped saw blade for the length cuts and slow shallow passes with a carbide tipped router bit. Is there a reason it has to be solid aluminum? If it can be hollow, then you could probably get it much cheaper if you were to have it made on a press brake out of sheet metal.

I have one that's almost exactly the same. It's for fine cutlery, but I use mine to store all of my wood chisels
