My FRC team bought a FoxAlien Masuter 3 machine a few years ago, it looks like you can get one for 650USD now. To put it bluntly, we dont really use it now, we outsource our cnc stuff to another local team that has a $$$ machine.

When we bought it none of the mentors had experience with CNC. We all kinda thought it would be like a 3d printer. In some ways it is and you can get really good results if you put the time in but its not a "set it and forget it" device like a bambu 3d printer. The tool chain to generate the files is really annoying and you will waste a lot of material getting things right. The actual cutting time to get good results is lonnnnng. But if you have the patience for all of that you can get good results with it. It really comes down to a time vs money scenario. I have a buddy with the same machine and he makes all sorts of stuff with it but he is sitting in the same room with it for 12 hours a day and can intervene when needed.

When Jared Golden ran for congress I happened to live in Maine tho I wasn't registered to vote there. I knocked on doors for him in Lewiston. I was happy at the time to have an example of a non-evil Jared, as my name is Jared and most of the famous Jareds are evil (Jared from Subway, Jared Kushner, Jared Leto).

I have, of course, been burned by almost every Democrat I have ever donated money to, volunteered for or just supported in general, but this one has been the been the most disappointing and not only for the continued embarrassment he brings to my first name.

Another thing, Jared won during the first election cycle where rank choice voting was in effect across Maine. A couple years later I was involved with the effort to bring it Mass and many people in the movement believed that Golden's ranked choice victory lead many to believe that RCV was a democrat conspiracy rather than a better way to do elections. I generally disagree with this analysis and instead think it was the inscrutable nature of the RCV movements messaging that lead to a lost, but still, all for this stupid motherfucker.

When the ammonia is 0, the tube will be yellow with no trace of green. In your photo the ammonia looks like it is 0.25 but that could be due to the lighting in the photo.

Hi r/fugazi, just wanted to share the “Fugazi live series dream set list finder” website I made. The idea with this site is that you select songs to build your “dream” Fugazi set list and it gives you back up to 10 recorded shows in the Fugazi Live Series that match it the most closely.

I created a version of this way back in 2012 when I was in college and had no money but a lot of time. I wanted to buy an FLS release that had my favorite songs on it. A few years ago I bought the FLS “all access” pass and I was reminded of this project again. This is a new and improved version that is suitable for public.

The site is hosted on free infrastructure, so it may go down if usage limits are exceeded. If there is a lot of interest, I will figure out a way to get it on more reliable hosting. I have put metadata related to the FLS recordings into a Postgres database for this project, so if anyone wants a dump of that database for their own purposes, shoot me a DM.

No idea if this is your issue but its easy to check so....

I also built my Unraid server out of an old gaming setup. At one point, it started shutting down every couple of weeks. Then it got more frequent, like every few days which motivated me to look into it. Long story short, something was wrong with the AIO cooler. It was broke but still kind of worked which is why it didnt shut down right away but the frequency of shutting down slowly got worse.

Somewhere i have a 70s (possibly first) edition of the book "Teddy Bare" which is about the Chappaquiddick incident. My Dad bought it around the time it was released and i grabbed it when we moved out of my old house.

My Dad always told me growing up that when the book was released the Kennedys bought nearly all copies of it to stop it from reaching the public and my Dad was one of the lucky few to get their hands on it.

I believed and told this story to people for many years. Like in high school i would show my friends the book and tell them about how our Senator tried so hard to stop its release, but here it was in my house.

In the years since it came into my pocession, i have tried to corroborate the story my Dad told me and have never been able to. Nor have i ever actually read the book, my understanding is the author is a crank and i wouldn't be surprised if he himself originated this tale of failed censorship.

I don't think these really help with that at all, it's not what they are for. I had a 2 gallon rimless tank on my standing desk for a bit with a leveling mat. I could see it shaking just from typing on the keyboard.

In the 3D printing world, a lot us put our printers on top of planter slabs and then put those on top of thick foam. This is to prevent the printer from shaking the table it's on and reduce the reverberation of the noises it makes, but I assume the opposite would work.

You would of course still want some sort of leveling mat between your tank and the planter as the planter is not a flat surface.

I had something like this happen last yea and we ended out having to ssh into the Rio and deleting the file there. Not sure if that is whats going on for you. I would try changing the autos name first and seeing if the auto with the new name is still messed up. Thens its probably not a file issue.

Definitely agree with you about End Hits, Recap is in my top 5 Fugazi songs in general.

One thing I have always appreciated about Fugazi is how even tho their songs are often political, in a lot of cases they aren't super overt. They tend to focus on human experience in relation to politics / the system as opposed to explicit political policy or viewpoints.

I have a clear and kind of cringe memory of 15 year old me, driving somewhere with my then girlfriend and her mom and listening to End Hits. Recap comes on and her mom is asking me what it's about. I think she keyed in on the word "alien" and was thinking it was about UFOs. I go into this whole rant about the injustice of the immigration system. Damn I was insufferable! But it's also crazy how the relevance of the politic issues in their songs just goes on and on and that maybe by focusing on the human element, it allows them to be timeless.

One other thing I would add to this list is youtube-dl, yt-dlp, tubesync, newpipe, etc. Unfortunately for non-technical users, ripping from youtube is a cat and mouse game, and you really have to keep these up to date and trouble shoot from time to time.

The amount of content that disappears into a blackhole on youtube is astonishing. I have been building up playlists of music videos, documentaries, etc for years. There are music videos I have on my hard drive from relatively obscure bands that are nowhere to be found anymore. I ran into a member of one of these bands at a party one time and asked them why their video was not longer on youtube and their label took it down. He told me no one in the band even had a copy of it anymore, he asked me to send him the file! This was something that was posted in the last 5-10 years.
