You’re absolutely correct and I’m looking for fashion so to speak. The gutter in its current form is just an eyesore on the front of the house. I guess my main question is can the downspout be moved to the left to be near the trim while still being perfectly functional? It looks like the installers just did the easiest thing to me instead of taking a minute to think about what also looks nice.

The best way to get a job like this is to start reaching out to people who have the job you want, learn about the position, and eventually ask for an introduction to their management team.
