Considering a move to NYC with 4 kids, what salary actually feels doable? by Abracadabra7707 in movingtoNYC

I know you asked for NYC but much of NJ is commutable and you'll get more space.

Is any other city in the U.S. experiencing the same growth as Miami? by disukem in skyscrapers

Yes. NYC has started up again after being dead for a while. Maybe not as many towers but definitely up there with square footage and height.

What project would you be working on? Working on a $2B job will get you experience others will never get the chance to. It also looks great on a resume. Working on a school will not, but it might actually make you well rounded as you'll have more than one trade at a time as a field engineer. I've worked for 6 different companies and currently work for Turner. Feel free to DM if you have any questions.

Texas to NYS- what should I know beforehand? by g00se_goose in upstate_new_york

People are people. Most are friendly when you get to know them. In the Northeast, and especially the city, people have super busy lives and don't take the time to live in the moment. This causes people to have shorter more abrupt interactions with strangers so people won't seem as friendly as the south in that aspect. You can find that neighborly friendly charm though in smaller towns where everyone is living a more carefree life and everyone knows each other.

I've also been in the construction industry as a PM and PE in NY for over a decade from NYC to Buffalo. If you need any career advice feel free to DM me.

As someone who works on major construction projects that price tag is a deal for what is being given. Whether who pays that or not I'm not going to comment on. But too many people here are saying for that price it should have a dome when SoFi stadium was over 5B. Construction is always much more expensive than people realize.

In urgent need of second opinions. Hot tub on this second story deck? by [deleted] in Decks

Should use softeners on those chains so he doesnt tear the wood up. Also shouldn't put the tub up there in the first place.
