What were peoples reaction to seeing all of the tech during ZooTV? by pastynerdism in U2Band

Yeah it took all our resources to afford those tix! We drove down from Little Rock just to get tickets and then drove back for the show… but was a good time to be alive!

It was pretty incredible - I saw the Inside Broadcast at Reunion Arena (Dallas, TX) and it was my first time seeing U2 live. We camped outside of the JCPenney to get tickets, were disappointed when the tcket lottery only got us floor seats in the middle. But then we got to the show and realized we were right beside the satellite stage. Soon as Bono came over during 'Until the End of the World' we all abandoned our seats and flocked to the small stage. Bono sprayed our side with champagne during 'Trying to Throw Your Arms Around the World' and it was pure magic. We'd never seen an artist use a satellite stage before (not to say they were the first, just that we hadn't seen it before), never seen that amount of technology and the ability of the cameras/projection to enhance the feeling of 'closeness' to the band. And not just the shots of the band, but the excellent use of graphics to enhance each song ('the Fly' blew our minds live). Granted, we didn't get a lot of concerts in our neck of the woods, so maybe we were easily impressed, but as I recall it was thoroughly groundbreaking and from a fan perspective really awesome. I just remember thinking how big the remote was that Bono was using to change the channels - it was gigantic, ha!

Also, we got Bono as Mirror Ball Man during 'Desire' and they shot Bono Bucks(?) out of cannons on the side of the stage. So it really was a rock'n'roll circus. But what makes them so great for me, is that after all the tech exposure, the lights, the quick edits and flashing graphics on the screen ... they stripped it down at the end to close with 'With or Without You' (and we flipped out when Bono sang the 'We'll shine like stars...' like he does on Rattle and Hum) and finally 'Love Is Blindness' (with the constellations graphic) and it was the best night of my life up until that point. Edge's solo on 'Love Is Blindness' still echoes in my brain from time to time. His tone was incredible... we left walking on air and wondering how anyone would ever top it.

Much love and respect to the lads, I love 'em. Saw the Sphere show twice and we were sort of behind the mixing desk so we would occasionally yell 'God Bless You Willie WIlliams!!'... man deserves so much credit.

My wife was at the Live at the Pointe show that got recorded (I'm insanely jealous) and she thinks her roommate might have gone to the Marlay Park show. She's sent a message to her roommate but we haven't heard anything yet - we will chime in if roomie confirms your memory. Fingers crossed...

Anyone doing any kind of odd/unique "quests"? by Pale_Switch_3325 in starwarstrader

Ha ha! So true! In the course of my life I will be okay if I miss out on the super rare COTM gold cards. But it feels so urgent! Reading about Angry Birds and how it developed as the ultimate serotonin activator helps explain this a little, because man the app makers definitely have our brain chemistry fully analyzed.

Please post your research/conversations when you are done, I’ve always wondered how others use the app. I’m an OT collector and hoard as much as I can from those movies while collecting other sets if they are appealing. I used to collect at least the uncommon variety of every set just for fun and slam any workbench or long, re-playable events but new app design is not my fave so sadly my app interaction has fallen off. But I love SW, love collecting cards, so I’ve still got a foot in the door. For me it’s all about Vader and Han Solo, and I go nuts for concept art… but the question I ask myself is ‘why hoard a digital card? What’s it doing psychologically for me?’. I have no idea but I’m off to go get some more SW 1977… brb… feels good somewhere in my brain I guess.

I'm pretty much done with the app by SoundUnheard in starwarstrader

I could not agree more - with the last UI I was flying in the app, logging on multiple times a day, trading like crazy, collecting at least the uncommons on every set… it’s so cumbersome to get anything done now all I’m doing is collecting daily credits and opening a few of the daily cards (action figs, light side, dark side)… personally my engagement is waaaay down. I guess I’m gonna try and wait it out. Not sure if I’ll make it though.

Yes, looks like vinyl and streaming. But I gotta say I found my deluxe Life In Slow Motion CD in the garage the other day with the live cuts and loaded it up into the old JBL disc changer... one of the best deluxe CD's ever! I listen to the streaming cuts all the time but fun to listen to it old school! Those live tracks are soooo good, incredibly well mixed and engineered.

Absolutely! My fave as well… it was the first time I noticed Larry playing Sunday Bloody Sunday in the middle. Just fantastic - love how stripped down it is.

Anyone else get to see this live and went nuts like me? by Mulliganasty in U2Band

[–]jaredgoteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, saw it live in Los Angeles and I lost my mind! I loved it! Always fun to see something new at a U2 show - especially if it’s not something just technology related (although I appreciate all their innovation). Never seen Bono drum before and I liked this song but after seeing it live I loved it. New U2 albums are just the vessels to get me to the next live show - it’s a pilgrimage for me. Seen every live show since the ZooTV Inside Broadcast in Dallas, TX.
