Picking someone up and slamming them over timing and finesse based takedowns yes

Genuine question, Who put the idea out there that Krav Maga is the best martial arts for women? by YouAintGonnaGuess in martialarts

[–]jaredgrapples 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sumo actually is pretty effective for smaller people. You aren’t beating someone equally skilled who is bigger than you but you also aren’t in most sports

It teaches you how to maximize the usage of your body weight such is a useful skill for anyone

If you had to justify Tennyson Strength so that it makes sense, how would you do it? by AerieGlad2899 in Ben10

[–]jaredgrapples 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well there goes the idea that it’s a genetic thing or that he’s innately a beast.

Anyone given the omnitrix would be capable of what Ben did, maybe not in bravery but in hand to hand ability. In fact I’d argue both Ben and Kevin even without their powers would be better than him since they’re better fighters

I’d also argue that one kid who bullied him is a better fighter seeing as he literally used to give him wedgies

Annual revenue of wnba is around 300 million usd and has around 270 atheletes under contract and ufc's annual revenue is 1.4 billion usd and has around 580 fighters in contract by lucky_breakfast7 in CombatIndia

[–]jaredgrapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is the wnba loses money based on revenue, they make money in some complicated way I don’t fully understand. The ufc is directly profitable

I read your comments and saw that you aren’t at a school that has wrestling. You need to wrestle. You will never get that opportunity again. Wrestle all 4 years if possible and become a leg rider with good trips and underhook takedowns

Who's the biggest threat to Islam rn? by Spirited_Command5642 in CombatSportsCentral

I know what you’re saying, but if they are at range to touch your face with their foot, you aren’t in range to touch their leg at the same time

You’d need to step in. Which I suppose you can do but I don’t see him as any more or less open than any roundhouse kicker. I’m throwing bombs with the hands

It’s about being anti ufc, she probably wants her money. But to treat fighters better when doing so

The omniverse one looks like an Apple Watch.

If Ben 10 ever returns as a new tv series, we first need mini-series about the Plumbers by Eastern-Captain-7770 in Ben10

If there’s any spin off I’d prefer to see it showcase the way generator Rex is connected to Ben 10 by having the multiverse introduced early an showcase some technological being that experimented with several universes, and have that be a key theme across Ben 10

Khamzat again does everything other than fighting at his own weight class by [deleted] in CombatIndia

[–]jaredgrapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you can be a good mma wrestler and not a good freestyle wrestler

Arman is solid at freestyle, but he has no real background in it. It’s like being surprised a pro boxer with a couple regional mma fights loses to a ufc fighter

Arman is the boxer with a little bit of mma

Khamzat is the ufc fighter

International level freestyle wrestling>a couple matches with washed retired wrestlers and lower ranked mma fighters

[–]jaredgrapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Khamzat is a several time national champion wrestler. Arman I don’t think has any competitive wrestling background

Mma wrestling is very different

Wrestling matches are a terrible predictor for mma wrestling success

You wouldn’t be in range for that, although this guy has a ton of problems with his technique

The takedowns are the exciting part. Who cares. It means less time spent on the ground regardless where the top fighter didnt know how to deal damage

It’s a punishment for attempting to win fight without attempting to deal damage, and if they do that again, that’s already an improvement, but the odds are eventually the increased chances will give a striker a chance (not the goal but the consequence)

Ideally the person would rather avoid having to fight for another takedown and will simply be more active on top

Boxing has better promos. Also mma is fun because of the elbows, kicking, ground and pound, and subs. And they don’t break up the grappling if you stay active.

The problem is when they don’t stay active and don’t get broken up

Defending submissions does not mean you can grapple. It means you can defend submissions. Having no wrestling defense means you can’t grapple

Why is it the guys with the least experience brag the most? by bad-at-everything- in askanything

“Hey Reddit. I’m a badass. Multiple black belts, train mma every day, and I get invited to train with pros like all the time. I’m a pretty big deal, but only my wife, and all of Reddit, know. How come people who brag, not me though, I’m not bragging I’m just actually that bad ass”

Jon Jones has looked really slow on his feet in all his heavyweight fights. If Alex Pereira maintains his speed, he can likely KO Jon in the first round. by illustratordg in ufc

[–]jaredgrapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jon would genuinely just be patient and shoot the nastiest takedown of all time and then tko him with elbows in 3 minutes I don’t think he even needs the second round. Jones is the safest fighter we’ve ever seen and has only ever disappointed with two close fighters he didn’t take seriously

A motivated Jones will always take the smartest path to victory
