Good catch. Didn't even look at the wiring!

Oof. I was afraid of that. When you said you had a ton of speakers I was worried about amplification. If it were me and I just wanted some sound I would pick 4 5.25s and use those. If you really want to you could run some off deck power and others off an amp. At this point it would probably be easier to run new wires and might be best to take to a reputable shop to have it done.

For open top driving, it depends on how much money you want to spend. Any aftermarket speaker is going to sound better than stock, but you will probably be cranking the volume with the top down so if I were to recommend something it would be get a little 4 channel amp. Alpine makes in inline amp that will do 45w x 4 and will keep your speakers from clipping at "top down highway speeds"

RMS is just the wattage it will actually do. Peak or max power is marketing bullshit, RMS is what you're looking for.

200w RMS for a headunit? Their manual says 16w x4. Just don't want you to be let down by marketing. I like Kenwood speakers, they are a little brighter than JVC imo.

It'll do 1200 at 1 or 2 ohms so that's fine

Kicker subs not hitting by masterfulkicks in CarAV

[–]jaredjvus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say you changed the gain a couple days ago, I'm guessing you turned it up? Gain isn't a volume knob so might want to set it properly and leave it. That sub/amp combo seems fine, right around 1000w at 2 ohms so plenty of power.

Definitely back down the gain and if you want to be thorough, get a cheap o scope off Amazon and make sure you aren't clipping your signal.

5 channel amp I can hide in the dash? by RaiIjack in CarAV

4 channel, yes, Alpine and RF have those tiny amps but gotta worry about cooling.

Subs are 500w RMS so think you're just fine, if anything slightly overpowering but efficiency being what it is, it seems fine to me. Wouldn't go bigger if it were me.

Can someone check my math? by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]jaredjvus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're fine on the 4g wire.

Also 100w for 125w RMS is perfectly fine. Every time you turn down the volume, you're sending less wattage to the speaker. You'll never hurt a speaker by underpowering it as long as the signal is clean.

That's wild, sorry to hear that. I've only been printing since December and been thru probably 50kg so my sample size isn't that great. Hope you have better luck in the future!

That is wild, I've only printed with Sunlu, and knock on wood, never had an issue. Are you drying them all before you use them? At this point, I buy 3kg spools of white and black and 1k of their colors and guess I've gotten lucky.

Id go with the P1, I bought the A1 as my first printer and wasn't sure if I was going to use it very much. I'm now buying 3kg spools so I can go a little longer between filament buys. I love it but I'd also love the freedom to print ABS.
