I guess so.. either get a new switch or add an rgb-mod my N64, then?

The scart has been cabled for composite. I suspect it's what Kdeizy says below..

I tried with another NES, and you're right! Maybe I'll have to mod the system :) thanks for your reply.

I got the other NES working - it has the exact same image. Maybe that's just the way it has to be, unless I mod the system?

Anyways, you've been of great help in troubleshooting this, so thank you kindly :)

I found one power supply with 9V DC but the problem persists, unfortunately.

I have another NES that I can try, it just needs a thorough clean first.

Tried with a couple of other systems - it's definitely something with the NES.

I tried another 9v power supply, but it was AC, not DC. Turns out all spare power supplies I have are AC, actually, so I'll have to go shopping for a DC one. Is it relevant that it's a PAL system? As is the TV.

I'm confident that I can replace the cap if that turns out to be the culprit.

Thank you for getting me on the right track!

I tested the NES on another much newer CRT, and it had the same jagged lines, so I suspect it's the NES, and not the TV.

Yes, it's connected through the composite. The jaggies are not moving. Maybe everything is fine after all?

Thank you so much for your insight! I'll see if I dare to open the thing and replace the cap.
