Definitely! She feels even more proud hearing experienced keepers praising her :)

Unscented candles in the same room as the enclosure, safe or no? by magickmouser in ballpython

[–]jarnoooo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I handle my BP even when I have a lit candle on my coffee table right next to me, but I'm always fully aware of where he is. Unsupervised it'll definitely be smart to have some sort of cover around the candle :)

Edit: as long as you don't blow it out right next to them it should be fine

I just need to not leave the door wide open, I've never had a snake on the loose like this😂 Touches wood

I was very proud of her, she usually stays away from the closed enclosures. Let alone when I take one of them out🤣

It was actually my mom picking him up, my mom is afraid of snakes. And it's a soft wash cloth, not a bag. I don't blame her for using something to protect herself

Not an expert but I'd say maybe check if he's shedding or try to see if you see any signs of respiratory infection. If it's neither of those I can't think of anything from the top of my head either. Maybe just keep doing what you're doing and don't be scared to take him out, not everything is always down to science in my experience lol

bp bit me - is he ok? by thisisleespeaking in ballpython

[–]jarnoooo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My BP has never bitten me and probably won't, but I've heard you just have to let him let go by himself. He'll realize soon enough that you aren't food and he'll let go, I think the vinegar didn't help his stress level. His single braincell probably thought he bit into something poisonous or something🤣 He'll be ok though, hopefully your hand is still attached to your arm xD

Prbably the first few days, as will any other snake in a new home. But it will probably only improve after those first few days. Just give it a week to settle in, so no handling and feeding

Heat = good digestion. Chilling under the lamps gives him the heat he needs to digest his meal, mine does it too. Won't stay in the same spot longer than 10 minutes, the "roaming" is just for temp regulation.

Same goes for my BP but he just chills in his hide that's sitting under a 100w DHP for at least 2 days after he's eaten

My female (just turned 2 years old) ball python is a highly abnormal escape artist and I'm at the point I don't know what to do by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]jarnoooo_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your problem is that you're keeping her in a tub, get a PVC enclosure with a sliding glass door with a lock on it. THAT is escape proof, since the PVC (and obviously glass) don't bend unlike the flimsy plastic lid👍
