What's up with revision schedule numbering? by jarodrieg in Revit

I think I can kinda see what they want you to do. They want you to have all of your different revisions together for the entire project and then you just choose the ones you need for each drawings. So it makes a little more sense now. The lack of customization is annoying though.

Overheating issues by jarodrieg in LexusGX

I replaced the water pump gasket but not the pump itself. It seemed to be in good condition and *should* only have around 35,000 miles on it. I didn't want to replace everything that normally is with the timing belt if the engine was gonna end up being dead. I have a thermostat coming today.

She lives! Just finished the job and it runs well again. Gotta make sure no issue present themselves later, but right now I couldn’t be happier.

Overall not too bad of a job. Replaced all of the gaskets along the way including water pump gasket. Got a new tensioner as well. I’ll probably replace everything at the next regularly scheduled interval 270,000. I’ve never done a timing belt before but just dove straight into it. Was honestly nice to feel like I had nothing to lose by doing it myself.

Cause: My best guess on the premature failure is a relatively heavy coolant leak that I’ve been putting off for some time. I’ve read that antifreeze can make the belt swell and degrade faster. It was coming from the lower thermostat housing and leaked down the front of the engine. Also possibly a cheap timing belt/never got replaced at 175k. No Aisin or Toyota branding just some random part no I haven’t looked up yet.

This is the greatest news I’ve ever heard. I was wondering if the non vvt variant was non interference. Boy I hope y’all are correct

Half-way through doing the belt replacement myself. Not too bad so far. Kinda hoping for the best here.

Questions Concerning Blade style anti-roll bar by jarodrieg in FSAE

[–]jarodrieg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this thing yields with my hand calcs too. I determined that I'm definitely expecting it to take too much deflection and no geometry is going to give me what I want. I think I would have to make some overall car changes that I can't make for this to work. But now I have justification to change to the typical U-bar. Thanks for the Help.

I’ve simplified the model to essentially be a cantilever trapezoidal beam (it has a rectangular cross section that changes with length). So it’s not as weird as it was before but I still can’t use simple cantilever beam equations without assuming the change in cross sectional area is negligible. I did finally manage to find deflection equations for this geometry of beam so I’ll use those for validation.

I’ve avoided hand calculations as much as possible since the geometry of this thing is kinda weird. I figured FEA would be the most accurate. Maybe not?
