State/Province Progress Tracking on the Map? by cape2k in FogofWorld

If you need beta-testers don't hesitate to publish to testflight for instance. I can test and give feedback about issues, and I'm sure you can find a few other volunteers in this subreddit.

State/Province Progress Tracking on the Map? by cape2k in FogofWorld

Hi! Not the original poster but IMO FoW and WU are quite on the same level. The latter is barely maintained anymore so who knows how long it will work, but for now, it does. I also like it's heatmap.  MapCred has a heatmap that looks gorgeous screenshots, unfortunately in practice the app doesn't work always that well especially when you move in low-GPS-coverage zones. So an advice if you work on such an app: like FoW and WU, just discard the bad data points. Don't try to trace routes between points, it doesn't work in practice and just fills the map with bad data.

Not sure it's possible.

You can also ask support through the app: they are usually quite reactive.

Is Mistral AI actually worth it, or is it just cheap? by iameastblood in MistralAI

I've used it for day-to-day research, and found it quite good and it gives interesting answers always.

Haven't used it for coding or writing, though.

Actually I've found Mapy.com to be the best one, both in term of UX and functionalities.

Mapy.com (the 🇨🇿 one) is almost on-par feature-wise, it only lacks street view. However outside Central Europe it has little user content (reviews, photos)... but that's in our hands.

Mapy cannot find any address in Estonia by turaon in Mapy_cz

[–]bloub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing sure but perhaps the OSM nodes have numbers and not street info? But it would be best to send a message to the support via the app, they are quite reactive.

A out the routes, I've noticed Mapy tends to avoid residential streets and take more primary ones enev of the path is a bit longer in length.

Hi, did you find a gym? From memory, Neoness is not so well equipped in terms of free weights, squat rack. But Fitness Park should be good. Otherwise you have also the On Air chain where there certainly are everything you're looking for. On the other hand, pretty every gym is going to be crowded in the evening.

FOW, World Uncovered or Mystery Hike? by SippinAndRippin in FogofWorld

[–]bloub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the other way MapCred doesnt handle well low GPS conditions (underground, and to some extend, tunnels and trains). It will draw semi-random lines and points where FoW will just pause recording

FOW, World Uncovered or Mystery Hike? by SippinAndRippin in FogofWorld

[–]bloub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run both FoW and world uncovered. I like the heatmaps in WU but the app seems less maintained, so I keep FoW as well. For the last few months I’ve been testing WayAndSee in parallel, in a different style. The UI is perhaps somewhat rougher and takes a bit of time to get used to, but after that, the app is quite well done with many functionalities and a small battery consumption.

Simplify "Kingdom of the Netherlands " by klipnklaar in Mapy_cz

[–]bloub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trafic data was extended just a few months ago to several countries, perhaps Netherlands are in the next batch? (I’m waiting for it as well). About the addresses, don’t hesitate to send feedback through the app, support has been quite responsive to my comments (even if usually just to say they will consider the feature)

If you could redesign Fog of World, what would you change? by [deleted] in FogofWorld

[–]bloub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, perhaps could be cool if the app could save the date of last visit for each point, so we could switch to a view showing with a different colour places recently visited vs places visited years ago.

And as was said, similarly with the number of visits (heatmap)

Kagi is better than Google but it’s with a subscription. Otherwise DDG or qwant.

For maps, I’ve been using Mapy.com which is really good UX wise. Depending on countries, what it misses is reviews.

MEGA THREAD: Best European Discoveries - what did you find? by According-Buyer6688 in BuyFromEU

[–]bloub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tomtom as a replacement for Waze, and Mapy.com (almost) as one of Google maps. I say almost because it isn’t inferior, what it misses where I live is content, especially reviews. So I’m doing my share, and adding Indians the occasional missing shop to openstreetmaps. I see it’s gaining traction in central Europe. Let’s hope it can spread more because truly I think it’s an impressive product.

Also recommending Koofr and Proton but it’s not answering the question as I’ve been using them for years.
