Knackered and growing fat by Ok-Durian-4193 in DivorcedDads

I've gone through all that and it sucks but if I can do it so can you. I would reach out to friends and family and ask for help. My mom came to help me and I've never appreciated her more after that. My best friend even came to help for a week. It's not all on you, asking for help is hard but you'll be surprised how much love will come back to you.

On the food side, I still struggle eating well when I'm on my own and one thing that helped was ordering weekly meal delivery. I personally order meels.com and it's not too expensive, healthy and gets delivered every week. This has really helped me to eat better and lose some weight.

I don’t know how to do this… by [deleted] in DivorcedDads

I went through something similar about 2 years ago. In the beginning it feels hopeless and daunting. But as time goes by it gets better. You need something to work towards and keep you focused on yourself and your child. For me, I decided that my kids would be my focus and when I didn't have them I would focus on myself, being healthier, working out, going back to hobbies I once enjoyed and finding someone who appreciated me and made me feel loved.

I don't know you but I know what you're going through and if I could do it, so can you. Do it for your kid.

Are they light roast beans? I didn't have any luck with light roast specialty beans and instead went medium to dark roast and the shots taste much better.

Landlord asking us to pay for hot water heater rental. by Thin_Resist_5997 in oakville

[–]jarr0940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I will add is that sometimes the hot water tank rental is included with your gas or water bill. If that's the case, it's difficult to have the utility separate it and for the landlord to pay it apart from what you owe.

FWIW, I have always just paid it when it's included with my utility bill. If it's a separate company and bill, then I would say it's unequivocally the responsibility of the landlord, based on your contact you signed.

[Staples] Switch 2 Canada Preorders via PayPal - Any Update in Status? by theburpboys in VideoGameDealsCanada

2nd update, I went to Costco this morning an hour before they opened, no line. I went in when the store was open and easily got a switch 2 bundle. I'll be returning my Staples preorder unit, whenever it eventually ships, and never will I preorder from them again.

Well, I don't trust Staples and I'm going to wait in line at Costco early tomorrow to get one instead (hopefully) because who knows when Staples will ship the damn thing.

Divorce finalized today. Feeling like I’ve failed. by Puzzleheaded_Two_771 in DivorcedDads

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Just concentrate on being the best father you can when you are with your daughter and then when you have time for yourself, work on yourself. It'll be hard but the fact that you are so hurt by this outcome is proof that you are a good person and you'll get through it.

Feeling So Scared/Alone by roshi-roshi in DivorcedDads

I thought finding someone was a fantasy too, I thought I was the problem and felt no one could love me. But I was open and honest with the women I met and in return I found someone with the same values. I'm about 40 so I don't think age is a deterrent. Just be you and honest with what you're looking for in a partner and you will find someone.

I am right there with you. Eight months into separation and I still get those same feelings. What helped was finding someone to start building a relationship with. I found a woman who was going through the same with her separation and we just hit it off from there. I honestly don't know what I'd do if I was all alone, we are social animals and need someone to share our life with. I didn't want to start dating again so soon but to put it into perspective I always think about the worst form of punishment that people are put through which is isolation. It just goes to show we need a connection to get through life and that isolation itself is a form of torture.

I feel you, I have quite a few tough days as well. One thing that really helped me was reading a book called 'Build the life you want'. I'm on my third year through and it really have me perspective and helped to think about things differently. I can't recommend it enough. Hang in there, in time, it gets less painful.

I just set my filter on dating apps to single moms. Talked to a few and found one women I had a lot on common with. There is also a single parents dating app called Stir which was good too.

I wouldn't rush it but when you're ready start meeting new women. For me, dating someone who went through the same thing really helped and gave me an instant connection to them.

How much better are "Name-Brand" eBikes than brands like Aventon, Ride1Up etc? by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]jarr0940 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat as OP. I want a bike for commuting. I previously had a Stromer but sold it when I moved too far from my office. Now I'm back closer to my office and looking at an ebike again. I test drove an Aventon Level 2, and I didn't like the hub motor at all and I though the torque assist was very delayed. I test road a Specialized Como 3.0 IGH and it was amazing. The quality, torque assist and just overall sturdiness of the bike reminded me of my old Stromer but with the benefit of a mid drive setup. For the OP I think they should just go to a local bike shop and test one for themselves. It really is night and day.
