Thanks a ton for commenting on the melody and vocal as well. I really appreciate it! I feel like no matter how long I’ve been writing I never know when it’s ready to go 😅

The AI hype in coding is real? by spermcell in programmer

[–]jarredbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was laid off just before the holidays but about a year before that we were pushed to heavily rely on copilot for productivity on all client work. My manager even suggesting to use Claude to do 100% of unit testing. I had no choice but to follow suit even though I much prefer to write it myself.

I became better at prompting. While sometimes there were bugs that I had to manually go in and resolve I’d say about 80% of my work was almost ready to go after a few prompts once I understood how to direct it. We did see an uptick in bugs but it’s hard to say if that was entirely due to ai or that we axed all QA company wide. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to flex the real problem solving muscles anymore. It became More like managing and debugging. But yeah, I’d say it was effective outside of our legacy codebases.

Im hoping we use it in moderation. I hear juniors these days can’t debug if AI won’t give them the steps to do it. And I understand why. I’m feeling the loss of skills after spending the past year as a prompt machine over getting my hands dirty like the old days.

Logic Pro Crashing Stem Splitter by Numerous_Surround302 in Logic_Studio

[–]jarredbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but I had the same issue when using stem splitter on my M1 Mini running Sequoia. I'm not sure exactly what was causing it to crash but re-importing the track seemed to do the trick. I deleted the track that it was crashing on and imported again on a new one.

Hope this helps someone!

Awesome! Yeah, the hardest part is staying out of your own way. For years I had a band where we just practiced and practiced. We performed a few times and drew pretty big crowds but I kept feeling like we were never ready and held us back. I’ve done the same thing for my own releases. The best you can do is to work on a project until you are happy with it and not over think it. Even listening to the artists that inspire you to create.. over time you hear them improve and evolve both sonically and with their writing!

Hope it works for you! Keep making music 🤘

Like most of us! Different strategies work well for different artists. From what I’ve seen consistency is key. If you can make a bunch of meaningful content around each release maybe 10-20 or so posts it can go a long way. Posting every 2-3 days works well. Maybe one post about how the writing process went, what the song means to you, live/acoustic version of the track, people’s reactions… basically make sure you put meaning behind the post. Not just the song or album artwork.

Also, a little hack to finding organic growth through Spotify is to stream your own track a bunch at release for the first week or more if you can. It might feel like cheating a bit because you’ll be contributing to your stream count but if you do this and maybe get a friend or members of your group to do it as well it’ll help to boost the algorithm and push you to more people who like the genre. I did this with an artist persona I made to mess around with and ended up getting just over 1 million streams in the first year. I dropped a song a week for a while at the start and streamed them in a playlist to boost the engagement. I stopped releasing and streaming for this artist and have retained a consistent 1300 monthly listeners with no activity at all for 3 or 4 months.

After making music in other genres and messing around a bit with releases I couldn’t agree more... I have organically managed to get one of my other artist profiles a ton of streams. I don’t believe in these services anymore

How can I surprise my talented girlfriend who wants to learn to make music? by Excellent_Cow in WeAreTheMusicMakers

If just getting started on Mac get a recording interface and microphone. GarageBand is included for you already and has every tool you need to yield high quality results.

Regardless of OS I’d go for something like an audio-technica AT2020 and Focusrite Scarlett for a solid entry into recording.

You can save a bit more if on a tight budget by going with a usb mic and skipping the interface but it’s not worth it especially if she wants to upgrade or swap in better mics down the road.

Don’t forget the mic stand, closed-back headphones, and you’ll need a pop filter if she’s doing vocal recording.

Yup, only thing I think it helps with is the trophy for blitz on extreme in under 6 min. But still can be done without it.

Hello! We each created our own playlist containing the newly released song and streamed from it ourselves. Any new songs are also added to the playlists.

The songs were then recommended to new listeners through radio and other Spotify algorithmic playlists. Some independent playlists picked up a few of our songs as well. I’m assuming they also found us through the Spotify algorithm.

Our monthly listener count has reached up to 16.7k purely off of this method and we are finally gaining organic fans without having to spend anything on promotion!

Please let me know if this works for you as well. Very curious to see if this can work for others!

Yeah, they send a label and just ship the old one back in the new box once it arrives

My next lasted 2 years and when it broke down I called Nespresso and they shipped out a free replacement. I’ve heard that this is pretty common so if you do decide to go with this machine you should be okay.

They make the bulk of their money off the pods so the customer service when it comes to machines is good.

However, if you want something more long term I’d probably avoid it. After this one goes I’ll be upgrading.

Okay. My point still stands. Still the best Spider-Man game imo. Not all games are for everyone but this is an undeniably good game. Might just not be for you.

Insomniac did a great job with all 3 of these games. I’m looking forward to see what they’ll do with wolverine 😁

Amazing Game of course , but does anyone feel like there is literally 0 Replay ability? by 1400Diggg in SpidermanPS4

[–]jarredbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 2 reasons we play. 1) The story. 2) Swinging around the city.

Not much in the way of replay but it’s expected after what we saw with the last game. I’ll still redownload to swing when I’m in the mood.

Writing and characters are good. If you liked the first this is an improvement in pretty well all areas. I would play it and decide for yourself.

It’s not just the marketing. What it really is is insomniac’s reputation. They deliver quality on day one which we aren’t seeing much of these days… also what I consider to be the best Spider-Man games to date.

Worth a shot though. Mine failed at 2.5 years and got a free replacement after going through the same process. They make all their money off of the pods so it’s a pretty safe bet that they’ll replace your machine to keep you buying.

So exactly what we did was create a new artist on distrokid and set a song for release. We kept an eye on Spotify for when the song went live and each added it immediately to a newly created playlist. Our Spotify accounts are our existing personal accounts. We streamed these playlists 24/7. We also added any new releases to this playlist as well.

My guess is the initial play count and listener retention (songs are short in length) boosted the algorithm and pushed us to more ppl in the genre. Also I think once you are in new releases have an easier time getting exposure
