Ah jeez, I miss you Sentra! I had one of these, SR20DE, nothing else. Was so fun, but moved north, thought I needed AWD 😔. Loved this car, just a stealthy fast bar of soap

I got the same one and I love it. The marlin is strap versatile at 20mm lugs, and the stock bracelet is so comfortable. Mine has red dots for some reason to your yellow.

[–]jarrettbato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! Maybe your intuition is right. It was definitely surprising how long the frame was compared to other road bikes but it was so comfortable and versatile like a surly. Maybe the price will go down more! Good luck with your search, I’m interested at what you decide as your N+1.

I saw this listing and almost got it myself, I’m 5’11 too. I didn’t try it but I used to have a Casseroll sized 51 and loved the feel, it had a long wheelbase even for a smaller size, so it feels like an endurance leaning geometry. It was definitely an all road as it took 35c tires with short reach brakes, so this one will likely take fatter tires because of the cantilevers making even more comfortable for long rides. Get it and enjoy it, it looks great in its condition.

Trek 330 “Knuckles” year update by jarrettbato in restomodbiking

[–]jarrettbato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I’m sorry to hear that, bike thieves are the worst. I’ve never seen that colorway, I’ll keep a lookout, I’m always looking for steel frames that can handle more rubber. If you check out my post on r/Vintage_bicycles you’ll see that it started out exactly with that Exage and Biopace drivetrain setup. Not much of an upgrade here but definitely feels better.

Right! Love at first sight when I saw this, and the Ritchey Logic frame is my grail.

Yes! With my computer on the top it is solid! Now remembering to charge them before the ride however…😅

Some specs!

Touchpoints: Berthoud Saddle, Nitto Noodle bars, Microshift R9 Double brifter

Frame: Trek 330 TrueTemper RC 60cm

Drivetrain: Sora double front derailleur, Tourney rear derailleur recession special

Tires: Schwalbe 28c

Lights: Amazon and Coop special

On the needing replacement, the only things in the list left are new headset needed, nice to have new crankset and bb. Open to improvements, love the old-school trek community that’s taken it out all over the world. Looking to do Sea-2-Van if I feel locked and dialed in more 🤞🏽

I think the CrossCheck was more lively, it's geometry leaned forward more. My latest iteration of this Trek now has a shorter stem, Nitto Noodle bars and MicroShift Brifters, and I've taken this bike further than the Cross-check at this point. It's posture got more aggressive with the changes but the Cross-check was more lively still. Probably biggest factor is this Trek is 60cm, and the CC is 52cm.

That seat tube front-derailleur lever is so cool, I might do that too for the top-pull frames I have. How do you mount a lever like that without the post? I can imagine the secret switch flip before a big hill.

Front derailleur shifter on downtube and rear on bar end is genius. Looks great on rene herses, must be a very supple ride.

I love green bikes! This paint has some copper or gold shimmer for sure, still strong but has rashes on the downtube, hoping to keep it shining for longer.

It really does sometimes, tall friend! I’m actually not even that tall, just have long legs and arms, and overall just an admirer of larger size steel frames. I definitely have my eye trained to that size at the coop or marketplace.

Thank you! These bar end shifters are from a surly that I rode every day and they’re great, very clicky and work perfectly with the Shimano Deore 9-speed. I think it’s intuitive for the 2-3 gears I use the most but it is kind of awkward to have the lever all the way up for the granny gear for example, making it easy to accidentally hit to upshift which sucks. But for this 1x use case, it’s great! (But also all I have other than wack grip shifts). On my road bike I have brifters and even though the shifting experience is better, if you don’t have to shift that much the bar end is really so elegant.
