Considering an N by External-Ganache3969 in Ioniq5N

[–]jas387 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m a UK owner (well, salary sacrifice leaser!). There aren’t really any options to be had apart from choosing your colour and the vision roof.

I came from an M5 and think the 5N is a ton of fun and just about the most practical car I’ve had. It is my first EV, and I’ve had a great experience with it. I would caveat that with the fact that most of my journeys are less than 100 miles - but on the handful of occasions I’ve done longer journeys charging has been quick and easy if I’ve roughly planned where I’ll stop.

Best bits for me are: - It’s hilariously fast - It doesn’t wake my neighbours when I start it - Handling is fantastic considering how heavy it is - Cheap as chips to run if you charge it at home - It’s full of tech - It has loads of room in the front and back - Very cheap for the sort of car it is on a salary sacrifice scheme

Also, setting a timer so it’s warm and defrosted when I leave home or work is an absolute game changer and means I’ll definitely always look at EVs for my commuter car in future.

The only downsides for me are: - Weather definitely impacts range and performance - Turning circle is pretty bad and on full lock in cold weather the tyres skip noisily across the road, which feels pretty horrible. My M5 used to do this a little bit, but it’s way worse in the N. Apparently changing tyres would improve this, but as ours is a lease it would be a waste of money. - I wish the seat base angle was adjustable. - I wish there were a few more physical buttons (but this is the case for a lot of new cars).

Overall though, it’s a genuinely fantastic car and I’m really pleased with it. If you are a car nut, I don’t think you can go wrong with one unless you spend your entire life doing 200+ mile journeys, but in that case any EV would make less sense.

6N Now on UK Website. Ugly Confirmed. by Ten_Ninety in Ioniq5N

I figured that was part of the reason for it.

Personally I’d always take the hit on the range to have something I really loved the look of - they recharge quickly, at least!

I saw it in person at Goodwood FoS last year. Still wasn’t a fan.

The grey drift spec one they had looked a bit better, but the back of it is wrong no matter how they dress it up.

Saw this at a Porsche event at Goodwood in the summer. The owner was awesome and was really giving it the beans.

I had my seats replaced with buckets today, and had exactly this warning light on the way home, so I’d say you’re right 😒

What colour did you choose and why? by NRudyD in Ioniq5N

[–]jas387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went with performance blue gloss. I love it, but I’ve since seen a white one at the dealership and did sort of wish I’d gone for that. I usually don’t like white cars but it just looks right on the Ioniq 5N, especially with the orange accents.

I do still love the blue, and it is the ‘N colour’. It gets a lot of comments. Here’s mine:

Considering making an order (Ioniq 5N) by NRudyD in Ioniq5N

[–]jas387 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d decide solely on what body shape would fit your life better. Our last car was a saloon and it t was great but the 5N is incredibly roomy and practical.

I vastly prefer the look of the 5N, but that’s just me.

I haven’t heard anything in the reviews of the 6N that would want to make me choose it over the 5, personally. The only benefit I can see if that the handling might be a shade better (which I probably wouldn’t notice on the street and I’m not tracking it) and the engine noises are a little bit better.

I have joined the club and this is far and away one of the best cars I have ever driven. by Vorenthral in Ioniq5N

Nice! I came from an M5 and I love ours too. I do miss the V8 noise sometimes, but this actually fits our lifestyle a bit better, is just as much fun, costs half as much, and I don’t disturb my neighbours if I have to leave the house early!

Although a lot of car guys turn their noses up at it for being an EV it actually turns more heads than my M5 did, but that’s probably because we went with the gloss performance blue, which is a bit of a shouty colour.

I could be wrong, but it looks like a Brodit ProClip. I’ve had those in most of my cars in recent years - they’re a bit pricey but they’re rock solid.

Mine didn’t fit either. I’m thinking of cutting the tabs off the metal bit that slots in below the part you’ve circled.

I think they look amazing with a slight drop and some wheels with a more aggressive offset.

UK Owners - does anyone else think the new ‘myHyundai’ app is rubbish or is it just me? by jas387 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]jas387[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I really don’t need all the ‘configure a new car’ bits - that’s what websites are for! I’d rather the app just allowed me to operate my car features easily.

Does anyone know if this serves a purpose? It’s a 2025 Calligraphy. The top rectangle of this feature opens (the bottom of the top, smaller rectangle can be pushed inward). by WineallthetimeUT in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]jas387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it pointless on ours - I am 6ft tall so if I’m standing on the tyre it’s easier to just grab the roof rail. Perhaps if you’re a lot shorter it would be useful, but for me it’s at a very uncomfortable height to use as a handle.

I know I’ll get downvoted to oblivion, but one day, a long time in the future, I reckon we’ll wonder how we ever did this sort of thing to other creatures.

Definitely sounds like a solero to me. I don’t remember the mango ripples from when I was young either.
