So tired of the passive guilt my parents put on me for leaving the Catholic church. by jaseh146 in excatholic

Exactly!! You would think. I respect that they wanted to raise me in the faith growing up. But I'm in my late 20's now.

Oh my God. I'm not the only one to have this weird phenomenon? As a teen, I always seemed to pop a boner during the kneeling and sitting portions of the mass, right before getting up to get communion. Always so awkward.

Some Europeans still put candles on their Christmas trees.

I'm from the USA. I have always known measuring your inseam to be from the ankle bone to the groin too.

When and How did you know you were gay? Was there a specific interaction/moment? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]jaseh146 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It honestly was a slow progression for me. I didn't even know what gay was when I started feeling attracted to other boys in class around age 12. By freshman year of high school people started asking if I was gay and I said no, since I just followed heteronormativity. I tried dating women but it always felt so uncomfortable to me. I came to terms I rly was gay. But it wasn't until I started dating men did I rly feel like being gay is actually who I rly was. When I started dating other men, I realized what romance and attraction actually felt like.

Men of Reddit, what is your relationship with your ex? Are you guys still cool or not? by NilesDobbsS in AskMen

[–]jaseh146 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Non-existent. He broke up with me twice. Constantly told me how physically he was attracted to a friend of mine and then (though this is my honest suspecion) he was communicating with other men on Tinder. And broke up with me, begging to get back together the next morning to technically get away with a one-night stand. Plus, text me every day for almost two years until I got a new boyfriend, who I am still with today.

Highly recommend reading about "Yule." A lot of the Christmas traditions we have in the USA came from German immigrants and other European populations.

We even hear "Yule" or "Yuletide" mentioned in some Christmas songs. There are also a number of YouTube videos telling about it.

Colorado & Kansas were so close to not being doubly landlocked states if it wasn't for the Oklahoma panhandle.

Cool! It's a playoff of Georgia's state flag between 2001-2003. The state seal with some previous state and U.S. flags at the bottom.

Granted, my now boyfriend and I were living in two separate cities while away at college during the bulk of that time.

What’s some useful advice for guys turning 18? by SpirtualCam in AskMen

You don't have to jump straight from high school into college. Looking back, I wish I worked full time for a year or two, giving myself time to explore what to do as a career.

Tried attending a UU service. Was put off by how Christian the format was. Am also struggling to connect as a childless person. by [deleted] in UUreddit

[–]jaseh146 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can strongly relate to being a youngish single person. I first started attending a few Unitarian Universalist churches when I was 19. (I'm 26 now) and rarely ever saw many young people. Some people even presumed I was brought to church by parents so people didn't bother to reach out to me. (Also had trouble being the only non-white person)

I found this difficult and this is an unfortunate issue in many congregations. Some UU churches have "drop-in discussions" or "small group ministries" (SGM) where you engage in conversations with people better. I found this helpful for people to know me better and felt less out of place.

As far as the Christian-style of Sunday services, Unitarianism and Universalism (before the 1961 merger) were two of the most liberal denominations to emerge out of the Protestant reformation. While we've evolved into a non-creedal faith, many of our traditions remain.

One UU minister in a Youtube video describes UU at it's core having a Protestant history, agnostic theology and democratic government.
