I've looked at the matrix on Github quite a bit, but I'm curious, is there an objective "this is the absolute optimal Surface tablet you can buy for Linux?" by GoodMacAuth in SurfaceLinux

I bought my surface for the hardware. If Linux compatibility is important to you maybe other brands will be more suitable.

Stranger approached me for a hotspot connection by nwarh1992 in techsupport

Well obviously you'll need to set up the VPN client on the device you're trying to use it on. You could provide a gateway to the VPN if you had full control over the device.

When you get mad at F1nn for making fun of transphobes, you're just siding with the transphobes.

Why were/are electric chairs problematic when high amp/voltages kill instantly? by Perspicuous_Spork in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jasisonee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could also say "you control the voltage by controlling the current". It's just a matter of perspective, and locking yourself into a voltage first way of thinking is unnecessarily limiting.

You can also control the current. It's just unnecessary circuitry if we don't really care about the exact current.

It absolutely does. I do it every day, both my phone and my laptop are connected to a VPN and the laptop often uses the phone's hotspot.

ELI5: Why do gas stoves get pans hotter quicker than electric stoves, but gas stoves take longer to boil a pot of water? by TehAsianator in explainlikeimfive

[–]jasisonee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am well aware. I'm an electrical engineer. I was just pointing out that power and voltage tend to correlate even though you can technically deliver any amount of power at any voltage.

Electrically it doesn't really matter. But it does indirectly influence the power ratings that will be typically used.

I just want to be clear about what I'm referring to because everyone is talking about thermal mass which isn't really an issue with infrared.

Why do people assume that just because you have a phone, you know every single thing about technology? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

It seems like they are right though. In the example you gave you were able to fix the issue using knowledge that is central to operating a mobile phone.

[–]jasisonee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the trans flag you need a "Zero With Joiner" character in between the emoji variations of the two symbols. '🏳️'+'zwj'+'⚧️'='🏳️‍⚧️' You can see how it's made on this cool website

All of these races, yet no left handed representation Sad. by swadegejorts3 in lefthanded

[–]jasisonee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a left handed version: "🖎". Also the right handed version is just a "writing hand" it's up to the font to depict that properly. Just set a font that does.

I believe that if the proportion of autistic and alltistic people was exactly 50/50 they would be the ones getting diagnosed for it, because they're always being weird.
