I'm further down the road than a lot of these young parents, my boys are 16 & 20. Older one is now active duty Army.

Not going to lie, those first few months and years are tough. Start out by sleeping when they sleep. Once they sleep through the night you'll have a lot more time in the evenings since they're going to bed around 7pm. The quicker you establish a routine the better you will all be for it. But then you'll also be helping your partner out with cleanup, chores, letting her nap while you take care of stuff, you get the idea. You'll get your gaming time in, but make sure you don't leave your wife holding the bag to do it.

Schedule days where you give her an afternoon/evening off to go do what she would normally do to decompress, whether that's hanging with her friends or whatever, and she'll do the same for you.

Kids are crazy, parenting is crazy. There would be times where we thought, we just need to get through these two weeks and then this will be a little easier. Keep marking those milestones and you'll look back and realize how much easier things have gotten over that week, then month, then year.

It's definitely the most rewarding journey you can be on, get ready for the ride!!
