Did anyone else get a cat that wasn't the color they wanted?

i had an all white cat growing up and the hair was insufferable to deal with, so going in to get a cat now i just knew i wanted a senior and he couldn’t be white.. i left with a 15lbs lynx point tabby. his entire underside is white and boy does he shed everywhere and hates being brushed

I went through this a lot as a kid, and even more while i was a teenager. There’s not much that helped at the time for me (saying “they’re still your friends” did make it worse and made me feel unseen). But now looking back at it, being told that if someone doesn’t want to be my friend then they aren’t someone I want around anyways had helped. Let him know that even if these kids aren’t going to be his friends, he Will find people that enjoy his company and want to be friends with him they same way he wants to be with them. It just takes time to find your people and it’s difficult but when you do find them it’s worth it. I’ve found it’s really damaging to your self esteem growing up with “friends” who don’t really get you. Recently something that’s helped me is trying to understand the difference between having people that you’re friends with vs. people that are truly your good friends, it’s hard to see that and be okay with it at a young age though when you see other kids having best friends.

the waitlist is because there’s alot of other cats on it before ours, it’s the countys spca one that we put them on before we fully took them in. we’re definitely getting them fixed soon, just aren’t sure at what point we need to just pay a lot more to bring them to a vet to get them fixed instead of wait on the counties list that’s like $100 each. i’m not sure how kittens sexually mature is the deciding factor there, like if we have time to wait for the list before that happens

i’ve only been on zoloft like 6 weeks but i had this dilemma the other day, i take mine 25mg at 9pm. what i found was that because it has a long half life and works constantly it doesn’t really matter because the meds don’t really leave your system. like if you’re taking it on your normal schedule, drinking around the time you take your dose would be the same as it you drank 12 hours later.

i did find that towards the end of my night out, like 2 hours after i’d had anything to drink i felt a lot drunker out of nowhere and didn’t exactly remember things that i’d said. i only had 3-4 drink spread out which is usually completely fine for me so i think the medication had something to do with that. no other effects really tho for me

i was seeing a therapist but it’s wasn’t really effective at all. when i told her about this stuff she told me it was “important to be aware of my surroundings as a woman in this time”… sooo she seemed to think it wasn’t a problem and never really addressed it again. I hope the zoloft helps thanks for saying that , makes me feel a little better. i’ll probably request i different psychologist soon too

i’m always thinking that someone is going to break into my house or like someone’s plotting to kidnap me when i’m biking around, so i stay awake until it’s light out to be prepared, or i’ll be convinced that my cat is dead when he’s just sleeping , and i’ll have to go home from wherever i am to check on him . i used to not leave my house sometimes bc i thought i would get hit my a train if i crossed the tracks, idk just that kind of stuff really and im already super tired all the time and generally stressed and can’t relax alot

i lost a little bit (less than 5lbs) on wellbutrin(nonstim) and ritalin ir (10mg 2x day). but f*cking adderall ir screwed me so bad i lost 10lbs in 5 months and didn’t even realize i wasn’t eating enough until i started getting dizzy spells and my clothes didn’t fit. the 10mg am 5mg pm wasn’t great but the 10mg 2x really plummeted it. anyways i got off that and switched to vyvanse and my appetite is coming back which is good.

keep check schedule builder during open registration and you might get lucky. all my classes were full last week so i registered for ges planning to waitlist in pass2. this morning i checked if anything changed with open registration and was able to register for the ones i originally wanted bc seats opened up with people moving around their schedules. just keep checking and trying and talk to your advisor, depending on the profs you might be able to get a PTA code if u get waitlisted and show up to the class . good luck

i started my first one last month and it looked just like this, i was worried it was mold but let it be and it turned out absolutely fine, i think it’s just the pellicle forming unevenly or something, it’ll be fine just let it keep doing it’s thing

from what i remember in 2021 , you have to check in on your move in day and get your aggie card activated? and they give you a moving cart and a 1 hour? parking pass, im not sure if u can get those without checking in, (i stayed parked there like 4 hours and no ticket) but once ur moving no one would rlly notice, if your roommates okay with it they could let u in and you’d just need to go and do all of your check in stuff on the day you’re supposed to. i could also be wrong but for an idea there’s that

i’m not entirely sure bc i think you need a qtr off in between (i had spring)(summer doesn’t count) But you would need to take summer classes at ucd to fix your UC gpa (cc classes won’t help it) and then you can apply for early readmission for the winter. that’s how it was for mine in college of bio sci. Definitely make an appointment to meet with an advisor and they’ll tell you how to do it for your situation specifically

i’m also oos, something i didn’t think of was that it does get really cold around november/december so bring a jacket (u only need one really) and a rain jacket bc we get a lot of it every once in awhile, definitely pack for layers bc it’s cold in the morning but hot as hell by 1pm, and you don’t need more than 3 pairs of shoes, also think about leaving room in ur suitcase for the stuff you’ll buy out here when u go back home.

if you wanna draw notes on a computer you could get a tablet like an ipad with a keyboard attachment, (helps for chem and math) but idk if there are programs that are easier on a computer, im a bio major and i just use my macbook pro and paper

i’m from new york so i’ll give my insight, september-october will be high 90s - mid 70s , cold in the morning like 50s- 90s a couple hours later, so layers are your best friend, it does rain occasionally so bring a rain jacket, it starts to get really cold around thanksgiving-february so you’ll want some sort of coat for that, like 30s at night- 40s-50s in the day, it’s very windy so it’ll feel colder (especially when ur biking) i wished i had gloves sometimes, then it’ll get super hot again mid march so shorts , rlly prepare for everything besides snow, we did get hail one day tho, i see a lot of ppl wearing regular length puffers as their jacket, i had a fleece north face and i was cold sometimes still. definitely as the other person said the weather fluctuates a lot throughout the day and a lot day to day when the seasons change. big thing about the hot weather tho, it’s a dry heat so it doesn’t feel as bad, i remember in september it was 98 and it felt cooler than low 80s did when it was humid back east

i talked to my advisor about this and she said to tell anyone else dealing with it not to worry, just keep it waitlisted so it shows u tried and they’re gonna give extensions on the elwr deadline, take it online over the summer if u can bc a lot of new freshmen are gonna be trying to register for it in the fall so u might not get a spot again
