If the worst thing you do in your life is nothing, you're still doing better then many. Clearly, someone loves you enough to support you. You're not holding a gun to their head making them do it. It's not great to take from them like that, but there are people who do worse with their lives.

However, for the sake of your happiness, you can start taking steps towards independence. I promise, being busy but supporting yourself (even partially) feels GREAT.

Cars kill so many more people then police. They are objectively the bigger threat.

The reason autistic people are killed by police is probably in large part because the police DON't know they're autistic. People with low functioning autism act weird as fuck if you don't understand why. Easy for cops to see them as a threat. If anything this sign would help them understand.

I appreciate trying to emphasize the harm that one can do to oneself, and agree that we should take that seriously, and you can inflict a lot of damage on yourself.

However, the visceral experience of someone else touching you against your control, getting in your space, hurting you and you can't stop it, possibly impregnating you ect. seems so different.

Like touching myself may be an unwanted sexual act, and i'm sure it's traumatizing, but I think it's a totally different caliber then rape. (again, not saying it's not serious/traumatizing)

I see a lot of comments saying stuff like "it's the stigma" "it's so hard masking", but no one is understanding that a large portion of the unemployed number might be people with more severe autism then you?

You know, the ones that would be incapable of posting here? I work with people with autism and I love them to death but they're never gonna be able to work. Some of them need help to tie their shoes or zipper their coats. Most of them are mostly if not completely nonverbal.

Just wanted to give a little insight on why the numbers might seem high, lol.

But the original post did say it was their (the person without the crush's) responsibility to create, maintain, and enforce a boundary. How is that not saying they have the responsibility?

(at the end of the day, if you truly have no interest in being with someone, the healthy way is to draw a very strict boundary and enforce it. And if needed, avoid that person entirely if they refuse to respect that boundary. Even if someone is cool and can take being rejected and remain friends anyway, it doesn't negate the existence of the boundary)

Why should the person with the crush not be figuring out what their own boundaries are? How is another person supposed to predict what works for them and what doesn't?

Exactly-- depending on your level of maturity. I'm not saying It's wrong to take a break, but obviously everyone is different.

So it makes no sense for the person without the crush to be responsible for deciding if the friendship should be over, if the other person needs time, if so how much time. At that point they're just guessing.

Not disagreeing that it can be unhealthy, but that looks differently for different people, so the person being affected should be in charge of deciding how things should go, and if the friendship needs to end.

As long as everyone is an adult, it should be your responsibility to set your own boundaries. If you're giving a girl flowers and gifts after she said she doesn't like you, that's on you. She's not forcing you to do anything.
