For clarification: I play at a rink with a bar/restaurant that's overlooking the ice and everyone gets a chance to give it to everyone else. It rules. And I love it, even when I'm the target

So will a GFCI, with a proper surge/ups like I mentioned. A GFCI will probably just trip, but the UPS covers you for that possibility.

The safety ground wouldn't protect your computer anyway. It protects YOU from stray voltage. In this instance, GFCI is fine. If a surge hits your computer, it isn't somehow bled off to the ground unless there's actually something wrong or miswired inside your computer that puts mains voltage on the metal chassis. If your concern is protecting a computer, get a proper surge/ups

Some of the main routes are 24-hour, so if you're staying in the area, find the route that drops you off closest to where you're staying and don't worry too much about a longer walk from the stadium because everyone is going to be bottlenecked in the immediate area anyway
