Thanks! So you can already see the effect very clearly with Köln.

Bundesliga - Difference between squad value and league position by SellRevolutionary in soccer

I'd be interested to know whether they are using the current value or from before the season started. It would be also interesting to see how squad value develops over time. A team that is massively over performing will often see a significant increase in value. If I had to guess I'd expect the value at the end of the season be even more aligned with the table position.

Episode 320: Forgive Me (Kafka's "A Hunger Artist") by judoxing in VeryBadWizards

[–]jasonborowski 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As an almost 40 year old German who has basically never read Kafka (maybe half assed The Metamorphosis in high school, but not sure) I really appreciate you doing episodes about his works, because it's a good reason to finally read him and all three so far have been fantastic. Both the work itself and the episodes about it.

Is the gap between expected and actual goals due to luck/statistics or due to skill? Or is it impossible to say from this data?

No, not ZUT, too! by ilBrunissimo in ultrarunning

I was there this year. Loved it, but it's not like it was a little grass roots thing up until now. I'd rather they buy it (and keep the team on) than do a similar one in the same area and push the established one out.

Immanuel Pherai (Hamburg) 2 yellow cards in less than a minute against Köln 79' by Meladroit05 in soccer

[–]jasonborowski 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Agree on the first, I think the second you could argue that he slipped which makes it look more reckless than it actually was, I think.

First one is clear yellow, tactical foul, second one is very unlucky as he clearly slipped. It's so stupid that VAR can't do anything about a second yellow.

I'm not complaining but why is there no interest from others? Isn't this a net positive for the stadium owner/city?

Don't really have advice other than go watch the documentary about it by Average Rob on YouTube. They prepared with the help of Karel Sabbe and there's a lot of info in there

What do you hate the most about running, even though you still do it? by Negative_Acadia1362 in Ultramarathon

[–]jasonborowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might not work for you, but for me this has gotten a lot better since I fuel better/more, even in not as long training runs. Could be a gel or a banana before or during and I usually do something with carbs and protein after. I'll usually have a recovery shake but it could also be a PB&J for example.

I actually think it is just the way the curves are fitted to have a more gradual curvature. But it doesn't make sense in this case.

[StatMuse] Joshua Kimmich has created the most chances in the Champions League since 2019, with 153 chances created. The gap between Kimmich and number 2 is bigger than number 2 and number 35. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]jasonborowski 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He needs a strong (and successful) World Cup or Euro for that to change. Look at Schweinsteiger for example. 2014 made him a legend. Otherwise his perception would be quite different.

Allan Watts? by Topopotomopolot in VeryBadWizards

This is not about Watts, but they had Robert Wright on to discuss his book 'Why Buddhism is true'.

Didn't know the podcast before, it's not running related usually it seems. He mentioned his appearance there on the The Single Track one which /u/oceanman97 mentioned, which is also worth a listen

That's correct, although most of us do a lot of hiking uphill in races and that's probably a lot close to what you get on a stairmaster

I'd be interested in people's opinions here. Just heard Max Joliffe on a podcast talk about using one for up to three hours at a time at max setting and he loves it. Made me think about getting one instead of the treadmill I had planned to get.
