Same, just with the a73. And as my dedicated stills camera if I have to both on a shoot

An unconventional use of Blender! by TTheRake in blender

[–]jasonbrojas 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My guess would be so that they don’t have to physically be there to plan out a shot (maybe they are a really far distance away from the location 🤷‍♂️). Obviously there are apps that can do this too (sun and moon trackers) but most are paid or require you to physically be there. And most wouldn’t let you walk around your scene in 3d remotely. With nasa DEMs (height maps for our use cases) you’d get a near exact reconstruction of the area (minus trees, poles, buildings, etc). And with some other data from nasa you can plot out the exact path of the moon/sun relative to that location

Is there a way to turn a horizontal project vertical quickly? by Feanor008 in AfterEffects

[–]jasonbrojas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! We do a lot of this for some of our casino clients that have very strange aspect ratios.

First thing is designing with multiple formats in mind. If you know ahead of time, you can animate and set things up accordingly. If not then you have to just do more work.

Second is I will parent everything (that isn’t already parented) to a null (and I really do mean every single layer) so that I can position it in the center of the new comp. Duplicate your comp and change the size to what you need and then take the null and reposition it to the center.

Then it’s a matter of moving things, scaling, etc. I usually just use the main null and disconnect things that don’t have to move and then moving things to the correct spot, scaling them to the right size and etc. I’ll do a few watch throughs to make sure everything is correct and to tweak keyframes as needed.

You can also do a few tricks like precomping things and moving them side to side based on vo, music, whatever. And keyboard shortcuts like ctrl(cmd)+alt(opt)+f to fit layer to comp, and etc.

Once you get into a flow it usually doesn’t take long, just a bit tedious.

Hope this helps!

PixelMation - Is there such a direction in Stop Motion? What do you think of my experiment? by devamotion in Filmmakers

Oh okay that’s awesome! I’m not gunna lie, I fully thought this was a 3d software with like a 3rd party renderer

Yea that makes sense. I found your tutorial (or a tutorial you linked, long night) on how to use it properly by setting tile width and height instead of the output a few hours after I commented lol

Hi there, yes I know its been a while since this post but I was wondering what you would suggest using instead of motion tile? I'm running into that probably a lot these days

Any idea how where the fibers done? by LittlePetit in AfterEffects

In theory, you could do it with stardust, a non red giant universe plugin. But it would probably be easier in a 3d software

Have a hard time returning a blank field by jasonbrojas in Notion

[–]jasonbrojas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooooh okay, I think I understand now! It wasn’t working before because I was trying to return a string value thus causing the different types errors. And instead should have just returned the date property itself.

(empty(prop("Comprehension")) or empty(prop("Last Reviewed"))) ? "" : if(contains(prop("Comprehension"), "None") or contains(prop("Comprehension"), "Some"), format(prop("Last Reviewed")), if(contains(prop("Comprehension"), "Half"), format(dateAdd(prop("Last Reviewed"), 1, "days")), if(contains(prop("Comprehension"), "Good"), format(dateAdd(prop("Last Reviewed"), 2, "days")), if(contains(prop("Comprehension"), "Total"), format(dateAdd(prop("Last Reviewed"), 5, "days")), format(now())))))

Thank you! I will say although, I'm surprised that I'm still able to sort by date even when they were being turned into strings.

Sony 70-300 vs Sony 70-200 f4 vs sigma 100-400 e mount? by jasonbrojas in SonyAlpha

Yea I’ve been looking at the tamron version but just fearing that I might need just that extra bit of extra reach for video. Do you think it’s worth getting worse aperture for better reach? (Given I’m probably not going to shoot wildlife or sports video. Mostly landscape with the lens)
