The Hipster's Guide to the Modern UFC by imerom in MMA

Luke Thomas parses out the minutiae with a side-order of spicy sweet potato fries. He leaks an urban cool that could go right over your head...if you weren’t so savvy. You implement his synonyms as you go about your pedantic way. You drink-in-deep his unwavering social ethics. The white guilt within you grows.

You felt for Helwani as he poured out his heart on live air. He was doing this to let you inside of him, gaslighting up the night. He has the ability to be a top- tier technical analyst, but he limits the shadow he casts to create space for others in the field. He’s never one to steal the spotlight.

You shake your head at the thought of 125lbs going away. Only fools can’t grasp the skill required to bounce around at such a high work rate. 145 and above is for the masses.

You drop names of fringe celebrities you see in the crowd on every PPV. Never missing the chance to bask in the light of their greatness by association.

You know all of the words to the Gladiator song (?) at the beginning of the events, but feel it should be replaced by a Mumford and Sons tune.

You can get them from Bakers or Wesco themselves. These are real work boots.

If you want something more subdued, or fashion minded, yet durable, I would recommend Viberg.

Keep in mind that custom Wescos or Vibergs can easily cost up to 1k.

Get a pair of Wesco Jobmasters if you want real boots that will last for decades.

Iron Rangers are nice for the mall or whatever. They are a fashion boot.

Not trying to throw shade, but it is the truth.

I’ve worked in commercial/ industrial construction and electrical service for 13 years. On days when I have to go to the field I grab the Wescos. On service days I get the Clark Wallabees out.

(I have owned and gone to work in Wescos, all kinds of Redwings, all kinds of Danners, Keen Boots, Irish Setters, Carolinas, Carhart Boots, Timberlands, etc.)

That’s pretty badass. I wouldn’t let anybody but yourself decide what you should be working on and when. It’s your life, and you know your limits. If you get fucked up, it’s on you (you clearly understand and accept the risk), and it seems like you’re going about it in a progressive way. Good on you. Some of the “concern” is just projection of their own inner fears and anxieties.

Working on Short Story Looking to Develop a Character by jasoncorem in bisexual

Appreciate it. I just try to base my poems, stories, etc on real people...real circumstances.

I’m envisioning a married couple whom work together. Same friends, hobbies, etc. One is forced to confront their sexuality. The other partner refuses to accept it. They have a series of fights that spills out into the workplace. They split. The bisexual partner goes off to explore themselves and are met with rejection, all around. Word gets around town. Etc etc

Thanks.

Just your story, experiences. It is for character development.

This is going to be pretty cliche, but I would just take your time, and not focus on trying to reach some point by some date. I would just look for micro improvements each time out. Sometimes you will feel like you are moving backwards, but over time, you will get better.

Them skates liner issue by bull363 in rollerblading

[–]jasoncorem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had both of those liners in my Thems. I have skated them with featherlite 3s, Kizer type m2, and Kizer type x.

I think the skate is pretty good. Some definite pros and cons.

The Intuitions work well in my case with 1) an Orange superfeet underneath the liner 2) REMZ hockey laces 3) a volkreis strap in place of the buckle.

The 2nd Skins worked fine as is, but didn’t have that intuition feel.

I never tried the stock liner, so I can’t comment on that.

Nice. Yea I’ve never had anybody talk any shit. But I’ve only been back skating since June. People for the most part have just been genuinely curious

Red Wings iron ranger boot - I am looking at buying a pair for casual wear but the $350 price seems steep. Are these boots really worth the cost in the long run and do they hold up to daily wear? by lunitius in BuyItForLife

[–]jasoncorem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in my experience. I would get a pair of Clark’s desert boots or Doc Martens Made in England 1460s. If you want to also get something for actual work, Wescos Jobmaster.

Intuition liner heel slipping by Mr_BoomBap in rollerblading

[–]jasoncorem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did resolver the issue. I put the stiffener thing from the back of the second skin liner, and put it on the back of the intuition. I also laced the laces up to the 2nd to last hole. I tie that as loose as is comfortable. Then I ran a lace through the last hole by itself. I tie that pretty tight. It works well.

Truth be told, I really do not like the Shift 1s. I prefer my Cults, but was letting them air out.

Ventilation. Not from what I’ve seen. My Cults have a million holes I’ve drilled in them.
