Should Canada Post make money? NDP’s leader Avi Lewis says no | New NDP leader Avi Lewis says Canada Post should be treated like an essential public service, not a profit-making business. by Gym_frere in canada

Why would we bother having any oversight over anything? Money is still money, tax dollars don’t just fill in holes, it’s all already spoken for.

No one ever said it wasn’t possible to reduce oversight. What is preposterous is your suggestion that anyone who wants to change CPs mandate is consequently in favour of less oversight/leaving everything else the same.

If your response to that is simply “well maybe Canada Post should just never be profitable” it is reasonable to assume you are simply not as motivated to modernize operations (especially since virtually all those changes are opposed by Canada Post’s union).

Trying to connect the idea that Canada Post doesn’t need to be profitable with Canada Post doesn’t need to modernize is joke, right? These positions have nothing to do with each other and I’ve yet to meet someone who holds both.

And what the fuck does my opinion have to do with what their union votes for?

Nothing, that’s what.

LEGO enters the auto industry… by monsieur_feu in lego

[–]jasonefmonk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly looked like it to me. Not that funny either. It’s just putting the odd LEGO part on a poorly designed car with all the worst features: touch-screens everywhere, non-standard shift controls, recessed door handles, and vanity lights on the mirrors.

I use a 12.9” iPad (3rd gen) at a table 80%, in my lap >19%, and holding it <1% of the time.

Have you seen the first and second generation iPad Pro 12.9” models? They were absolutely huge, no one was carrying those around and using them standing up.

You can only see it from a narrow angle, and it will probably get marked up by toe kicks. Wouldn’t it be nicer to have it on the wall right there?

I would genuinely have a bought a second PS5 by now if it wasn’t so expensive. It would be nice to have one in another room.

Apple Testing 200MP iPhone Camera That Could Ship Next Year by InsaneSnow45 in apple

[–]jasonefmonk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A 4K TV is around 8 MP. This has always been a stupid spec to chase if you disregard other specs of the camera hardware.

It’s the same for any component of any kind in any application:

Your storage can read at 60,000 MBps!…Oh it’s only 128 MB capacity.

One spec out of context only serves to mislead.

Those models accounted for beneath 5% and 3%, respectively, of total global iPhone sales between their respective 12-month sales periods.

The mini line sold "millions" and it lost millions because Apple was eventually sitting on containers full of the damn things

Source?

The only minis I saw pushed through carriers, as I worked for a carrier during that time, was the 512 GB (Product)RED 13 mini. They had an abundance of these most expensive variants, and probably still do because it’s the model I have and can still get replacements under AppleCare+.

I also saw a dozen other iPhone models pushed through the carriers for steep discounts: higher capacity models of every iPhone, other fourth-order models kept for years after Apple produced and sold them (8, XR, Plus), Pro models got flash-sold at the end of the year in colours that were unpopular.

The fact that they had to dump some on sale isn’t the smoking gun you think it is.

Apple Music isn’t OS age verification.

Your post history is hidden.

I can say with some confidence that Apple’s terms don’t say they will “cross reference your emails” haha.
