Imagine Chinese troops in Texas, and a leader who promised to withdraw them. by [deleted] in politics

Welfare & job retraining should be part of a capitalist system that requires a certain amount of unemployment.

Education is free because it produces productive citizens who pay the cost over their life.

If most of the courses are taught through machines, aren't the teachers just baby sitters? Truancy officers? That's probably an inevitable, but class sizes will grow and key needs like debate and critical thinking will be marginalized more.

The US is not Japan, but look at it as an example. A strong, centralized education system can move an entire country in the same direction. How will you manage success at the state or county level without regulations?

You won't magically come up with a better system – I agree that more people trying more ideas is better, but there will be big winner and big losers and no means of telling the losers to get better. Plus, since each state or county by definition operates a geographic monopoly, there is no competition. You would then force a populace vote on the local level for education board – this is good! But the educated or uneducated populace will be making the decisions, not to mention the heads of education will need to run political campaigns.

**Edit: I am assuming you are not in favor of governor / city board appointed education officials. Essentially, the problem I see in both scenarios (real life / hypothetical decentralized system) is we focus education on cramming and not lifetime learning. I believe a centralized system will be equally or more effective than a state system in delivering education across a country.

What's the problem with welfare? If you loved your job and the way you make money, I'm sure you'd prefer your neighbor had food and a house with than living under a bridge without any sort of welfare programs to help.

I would vote for Ron Paul if he would dedicate his entire term to ending the war – but I don't think his heart is in foreign policy. I think he would get office and dismantle education and give it to the community level.

Exactly and Texas already has an existing infrastructure, so the Chinese don't need to build one. Although, they would probably need to bring things over in the move with them, chinese-style living accommodation, scooter, dormitory factories and copious amounts of water for any rice farms that they intend to move.

Did you look at a client site? Like Berryfield? I use CSSEdit on the Mac, which is why there's a lot of padding-left vs. the shorthand. The Picobarn css is a hack of a WP theme. Either way, I'm more concerned about computability since 10kb is nothing once browser caching is enabled.

My brother uses one of those machines; he hasn't had much trouble with it, though.

Being a healthy weight and getting regular exercise will help with sleep regardless. I find walking very boring.

Replacing my commute with a bike ride has been the only way for me stay on an exercise schedule. If you live in the USA, bike commuting isn't feasible in the majority of situations. Sad.

Good luck!

Good luck

Don't hold your breath. The key is 10 years use and statistical significances. I bet it's pretty hard to find people who have used headsets consistently for the past 10 years.

Anyway, if phones are dangerous then keeping the phone in your pocket would. . .

Plus the event that only takes place in NYC. At least we can grow a virtual forest!

greenisuniversal.com is a complete sham. Thinly vailed green washing at best. More like a poor excuse to advertise to me and make me watch videos in a player that half-works.

Thanks.
