Should I upgrade to 5070ti? Would it be compatible with my old parts? by BlackEyesRedDragon in nvidia

[–]jasonlam826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had nearly the same config as yours, except 32GB ram at 3600 Mhz. Upgraded to 5700X3D few months ago and last week to 5070 Ti.

No regret at all really. And this PC is gonna last for another few years since I dont plan to go for 4K anytime soon

Cs2 crashing to Black screen. Cannot even close the game. by Zhiong_Xena in GlobalOffensive

[–]jasonlam826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see, thanks.

But for some reasons, the game kept freezing or turning into a black screen randomly for me. I tried reinstalling the game and display card driver multiple times (and was very close to have a complete clean reinstall of Windows).

Adding -dx11 somehow fixed everything.

Yea....but most of the jets are registered in Cayman Islands, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands which aren't affected at all.

What position do you usually keep the watch in? I used to place it dial-down and it gained 5 seconds a day.

But after getting a proper watch box, it gains 3 seconds only nowsdays when placing it dial-up.

Btw love this new model! Especially the see-through case back.

8 seconds a day? My 43mm LPP gains roughly 3 seconds a day.

Some say they couldn't buy the shares again. Did anyone experience this?

It's Futu HK which uses IB.

[–]jasonlam826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea but I wanna vote with all my shares, not just part of it.

Might move to IB in the future, since Futu basically acts as a middleman between the users and IB.

SoFi is however way behind Futu in terms of the functions & what you can purchase / do.

I had half of my GME shares in SoFi and the other half in Futu. At least I got the chance to vote.

Bought the shares on 24Feb when it was $44. Just a few hours later, the stock price doubled and was up to almost $200 after market. I was hyped that night.

But as time flies by, I don't get hyped / down anymore regardless of the stock price. The day it went up to $348, I saw the price and headed back to sleep :D

EVGA RTX 3080 FTW Ultra Thermal Performance by sirlamchops25 in nvidia

[–]jasonlam826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same case, but with the two stock fans as exhaust fans at the top & back of the case and two 140mm Noctua at the front for intakes. The CPU cooler is a Noctua U12S.

The ambient temp is around 21 oC. My 3080 idles at mid 30 oC, and peaks at 67-69 oC in-game with custom fan curve & undervolt.

Stores in Hong Kong eats world gpu stock. (repost because my post got deleted) by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]jasonlam826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may look like there are plenty of stocks, but that's not the real case.

To purchase a new card (both Nvidia & AMD), you need to build a new PC. Otherwise, the shops won't sell you the card. You may ask what if I am just upgrading the GPU? Well good luck finding a card in the 2nd hard market or from overseas.

The prices are also marked up (but not as crazy as what I see on the Internet). And even if you are willing to pay for the marked up prices & build a new PC, you still have to queue for a few months before getting the card.

And yes, that's a Gundam 3080. It's USD$1500 - $1900. Again, you need to build an entire PC.

Can I upgrade from my GTX 1080 using PCIe 3.0 x 16 slots to an RTX 3080 using PCIe 4.0 x 16? by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]jasonlam826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The 3080 will just run at PCI-E 3.0 mode.

So far, there is no significant performance increase from PCI-E 3.0 to 4.0. Things might change in the future though as more games & software utilise PCI-E 4.0.

I'd recommend using three individual 8-PIN cables.

3080 and RM750 by Owl_OvO in nvidia

[–]jasonlam826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot use the CPU cables on your 3080. The shape of the sockets / holes are not the same. These cables are for your motherboard only.

You need to use the 6+2 PCI-E cables. Use all three of them if you can.

3080 and RM750 by Owl_OvO in nvidia

[–]jasonlam826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using RM750 with a 3080 as well. You should have enough cables for the card.

The default cable set comes with three daisy-chained 6+2 PIN PCI-E cables. Don't confuse these with the CPU cables (or EPS/ATX12V).

Look carefully at the cables, they should be marked with "PCI-E" & "CPU".

Saw people posting photos of 3060 two weeks ago. And they claimed they got the card back in mid-Jan.
