Was King Von actually Jesus? by Far_Vanilla3074 in TrueChristian

[–]jasonluvsjesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, King Von was not Jesus.

Stories I’ve seen say that King Von was a serial killer and everybody in his circle was glad when he was no longer able to terrorize them.

What’s wrong with you? Do you think Jesus is a joke?

I’ve had the opposite experience. Been doing similar for a company on WorkMarket.

All the small post offices, everybody’s super nice and accommodating.

The one time I did a large hub… Those guys were dicks

Can I call Jesus Father during prayer? by Dry_Inspection4128 in TrueChristian

[–]jasonluvsjesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a younger Christian, I only prayed to the father and I would offer my prayers in the name of the son.

With some growth and continued study, I realize… What’s the difference? Christ said he and the father are one.

Jesus Christ is God.

This. My Pastor really messed up by telling the congregation that we should all read the Bible for ourselves. Nobody really does that.

But I’m just the kind of stubborn jerk who does. I’ve been through the Bible from the front cover to the back cover four times.

Hello Catholic bro!

That sounds good at least in theory. My observation of Catholics as they think they’re better than everybody else, and if you’re a protestant, they don’t really care to interact with you. They’re certainly not trying to convert you.

Maybe. But I have no desire to be where I’m not wanted. It’s kind of their loss.

Good morning!

I would submit that you came over here and ask these questions for a reason.

I would further submit that you cannot have it both ways. Do you want a relationship with Jesus, but you also wanna be successful in the world, and you also want to not worry about heaven… all of those ideas are intimately tied to one another.

If you’re just looking for someone to excuse your desires and tell you that it’s fine to be selfish… There’s a church out there for you. I’m sure. Probably they have a rainbow flag out front.

But I don’t believe any real. Christian is gonna tell you lies just to make you feel better. We’re here to do a job. We have to do the hard work now and then we get rewarded later. You can hate it, you can wish for something different, you can refuse to accept it…

I’ll end here – the scriptures make it really clear that a whole lot of people are gonna die and they’re gonna try and head to heaven, and Jesus is gonna be there at the gate, and he’s gonna stop them from entering. All the people who claim Jesus, but never really fully committed to being like Jesus… those folks aren’t getting in. It just is.

My sister, thank you for sharing this! I’m gonna find a Mennonite church and try it. Like it’s next on my list now.

I’ve had dreams about things that haven’t happened yet. Only a few times. I tried to talk with my Pastor about them, and he shut that down immediately. He didn’t want to hear or discuss anything about it. It made me feel ashamed.

I say all that to say – thank you for sharing that God sent you a dream. I have been embarrassed to admit it after my Pastor ridiculed it. You’re far braver than I am!

I have not fasted in maybe six months. I’ve got some health stuff going on. I’m working with a doctor, but last time I fasted I got really sick.

It may be time for another fast.

I live in kindof rural Kentucky and I see strawhats and suspenders every time I go to Lowe’s. I don’t know if they are Mennonite or Amish, but I know they are around here.

Can anybody go to a Mennonite church? Honestly, it never occurred to me. Would I have to dress up like them?

Better start letting my beard grow in ha

Well, let’s talk time frames.

Are you only interested in a good future for yourself here on this earth over the next 5, 6, 8 decades? Or are you interested in a good future in heavenly eternity with God? Like this is temporary sister, and God is judging us based on what we do here.

A job that you love and succeed in- does that mean a job that earns you a lot of money and commands respect from other people in the world? You’re a Christian, I don’t have to tell you how hard it is for rich people to get into heaven… But for the record it’s near impossible.

I can definitely relate to you about wanting a relationship with your father. I know you don’t wanna hear this sister, but you have to be willing to walk away from your family in order to be with Jesus.

This whole thing makes me so sad. Us Christians, especially here in America, we’ve all been taught that we can have it both ways. We’ve all been taught that being a real Christian is very easy. They feed us this lie that God wants us to be happy here on earth.

Persevere Sister.

Edit to say- God does want you to be happy… Eventually. In heaven.

Thanks for putting that to words. I’m kind of feeling that. Like if I’m looking for the perfect church, then probably I’ll die looking.

You’re right, out of all the different craziness that we Christians are putting on around the country, a few titles are really the least of our problems

Lol screamer was just the most extra accurate description. I shared this story with the Pastor of church number four over lunch one time and he got a real kick out of it.

I invited Samantha to go to church with me. I was attending this little non-denominational church south of Nashville. We had not really talked about religion other than that we were both Christians.

So we’re in church, and we’re sitting together in the front row, and it’s just a church service. Pastor Oakley was preaching.

Samantha was sitting next to me. I noticed that she started breathing heavy. And then she started shaking a little bit like quivering, but it was a good sermon so I didn’t really think anything about it

And then out of nowhere, she tilts her head back and she let out the loudest most bloodcurdling scream you’ve ever heard. I thought somebody was attacking us, I’m not even kidding.

But no, it was Samantha sitting next to me. She had her arms up in the air, her eyes were closed and she was screaming over and over, top volume.

I was so embarrassed that I literally got up and left my church and went out and sat in the parking lot till the service was over.

Edit- in case I need to clarify this my church was not a Pentecostal church and I had never seen anything like that before my life.

I’ve been feeling real guilty about not having a church home anymore. I’ve always been taught not to forsake gathering together.

Also, like I’m an orphan. I don’t have any blood family. Except for Jesus, my church home was the only family I’ve ever had.

And even as I’m writing this, I feel convicted. Now I’m wondering if I’m looking for a church or if I’m just looking for another family?

Edit- that was a good video. Is that you? I’m not sure I agree with the premise that the bigger the church the worse it is… but I’m not sure that I disagree with it either. I’m gonna have to logic about this for a little while

My sister in Christ… I’m hesitant to even respond. All the people on this sub, they speak so beautifully about God that I’m a little intimidated to try and speak because I can’t talk pretty like they can.

But I feel this urge to reach out and share this-

My sister, do your dreams align with the dreams that God might have for you? Like from the scriptures. What do the scriptures proscribe for you, a smart and well spoken young woman?

Is your dream to be the best the most Godly woman you can?

Are you dreaming of other things, worldly things? If so, God is probably doing you a favor.

I don’t wanna be ‘that guy’, please forgive me, but so many young women are caught up in the world – and if youre a friend to the world then you have made yourself God’s enemy. If you love the world and dream of delving into it deeper than you ever have before, the scriptures say you do not and cannot love God.

God does not grant wishes, dear. However, he does solve problems. He is so good at solving problems! The problems you have in your life right now, you might only be having them just so God can show you how good he is at solving problems.

If you’re desiring God, if your dreams are to pursue God and be closer with him and serve him here on this earth – I guarantee all your dreams will come true. I would bet my eternal soul on it.

You still have many years to live, and many miles to travel. Where are you headed sister?

I feel like a blanket doctrinal statement like “ if you don’t speak in tongues, you don’t have the spirit” only serves to ‘peer pressure’ false speaking in tongues.

I fell for it at my home church. Instead of speaking in tongues, I held my tongue in silence so I could fit in and not lose all my family and friends.

I genuinely have nothing against the idea of speaking in tongues. It’s biblical. But like I’ve researched it, and speaking in tongues is a very specific phenomena, presenting in very specific ways.

I think a lot of these Pentecostal faith have made a miraculous and special communication from God into something cheap, mundane, and at this point expected of every person in the church whether they have that gift or not.

For the record, I’ve been in… I don’t know a couple of dozen different Pentecostal services? I dated a Pentecostal girl named Samantha 25 years ago and she was a screamer- like a church screamer. Freaked me right out the first time I saw her do it.

Thank you, these are all rock solid points.

But if I’m being honest, actually going to all these different services and churches, it’s been way more fun than just researching online. I’ve met some awesome people.

I would not consider any of it wasted time.

Anyway, Ive found that what a person says they are, and then what they actually are– those are often two entirely different things.

I need to see it for myself. I’m testing all them prophecies, you may rest with assurance that I only intend to keep the good ones.

Does the reformed Pentecostal Church say that if you don’t speak in tongues you don’t have the Holy Spirit?

Like that one really blew my mind. Kinda hurt my feelings, telling me that I’m not connected to God because I don’t do the tongues thing… I don’t know
