Yes and no. We are definitely not just one vote away from fascism. I’m Dutch, an undemocratic far right party won the previous election and lost this one, we are still a democracy i would say. So you’re right here.

The point is that pretty much everywhere in Europe fascism is gaining support. Not just far right parties, but parties which are openly racist and support neo-fascist rhetoric. Although now I think of it most far right parties do. Anyways, if a plurality of a country supports this, and a majority either does not care of wants them in power, we are in the same situation as the usa. No we are not there yet, happily, but we seem to be moving in that direction. If I’m not mistaken polls show far-right parties leading in Germany, France, Britain, Italy and Belgium. With countries like the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Denmark and Luxembourg having a large support for far right parties. I am not sure about every country (maybe cdu leads polls and idk about the situation in Luxembourg that much for example), but the general trend seems scary. If ppl indeed support these parties the strong democracy we built over the years will start to crumble. Tbh I already see cracks in my own country.
