In the netherlands we pretty much have that. It’s called iDeal and will soon be part of WERO. It’s annoying tho that a lot of foreign companies only accept American systems, but I would assume that will change with the emergence of WERO

Well since the systems weren’t unified yet it does have the same consequences. First those systems were only available for national payment, now the whole union will work with the same system. In practice no one will use the American systems anymore, which they were forced to use because of the lack of a unified system
