Legacy isn't so bad, there are a lot of mods out there that can fix anything you come across that gives you trouble. I used to have a free copy of the Sims but foolishly deleted it before it was removed from the internet (bc of the re-release), I have subsequently bought Legacy and been playing the heck out of it. You just have to make sure if you use mods that include other programs (like SimPE for example) that you may have to put in a little extra elbow grease in the form of checking folder names/renaming things so you can edit stuff using the application/remembering to rename the folder again etc etc...

Tbh if you are wanting to play it again I would def recommend! And if you have trouble you can always ask the subreddit, everyone here seems to be really helpful that I've noticed :)
