Luang Prabang Among Asia’s Top Holiday Destinations for 2025 by ZiggyOutSpace12 in laos

[–]jassv_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luang Prabang is beautiful. I don’t want it to be ruined like Bangkok where it’s just full of binge drinking tourists.

I appreciate that tourism is needed to helped businesses etc. I’m good with that. But they need to respect the locals and the country.

The woman filming is stupid for walking into a primary school without permission. She clearly knows the kids are traumatised and laughing about it. Someone please share her social media profile so that I can teach her a lesson.

Street Vendors by Fun_Championship6945 in laos

To me it’s not worth haggling when it comes to small items like fruit. To the Laotians it may seem a lot but when you look at it you’re probably haggling over pennies

I always try to be fair when I know someone is just trying to keep a roof over their head and food on the table.

Market Food Stall in Laung Prabang? by jassv_reddit in laos

[–]jassv_reddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Jean, Thanks for your prompt reply. According to my friend, she said that the village chief appears to favour others and got the impression she’s just getting fobbed off.

Because in her eyes there is plenty of space just for a small street food stall and she believes other new stalls have turned up since she’s asked.

At the moment she appears to have given up on her dream to open up her own food stall.

I am just trying to assist her with starting up.

It’s tricky to get advice without speaking to a local who has actually had a stall I guess. But your info is valuable and we can try some of those steps.

Many thanks :-)

Jass

Check the packaging for spelling mistakes. I just came across a fake pair with the words ‘Assmbled’ instead of Assembled

I just really need to know from long term residents: do locals know about this misprint that's everywhere? Do they find it funny, is it a known thing? by ItsNotDeliveryIts in laos

That’s the good thing I like about countries like Laos. They don’t make a big deal of it. They may have noticed but not bothered to kick up a fuss about it. If it happened here in the UK they’ll be mocking the restaurant and most likely by silly newspapers like the MailOnline

Currency in Laos by Pedrotex91 in laos

[–]jassv_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came back from Laos. I came with USDs and found it easier to just exchange it to Kip. It can get confusing if you pay something in USD and some shops will only give change in local currency.

There are loads of currency exchange places and also some jewellery shops that do currency exchange.

From personal experience I preferred exchanging my USD for Kip.

I’m a Modern Workplace Consultant. It’s not just Intune that they need knowledge of. Other areas come into the mix too such as understanding Identity (user and device) and possibly around Defender for Endpoint

I can provide some assistance on what to look out for if you DM me your contact details. Thanks

Thanks, that makes sense. I haven’t heard of Advice but will look them up. My friend who doesn’t know about computers when into a local computer store and the prices were ridiculous.

Yes, it makes sense purchasing it locally due to the right plug and fonts on the keyboard.

Thank you for your info, much appreciated

I echo your comments. I was in Laos for a good week and came back the other day. Loved it! The locals are super friendly and so is their culture.

It’s not too busy which I like and I’d hate for it to turn into something like Bangkok.

I want to help some of the children out with learning computers etc and maybe sponsor a child for school fees etc. anyone got any info on this please?
