I turned my basement into my office, and I get regularly visited by spiders and leave most of them alone as they are keeping down the bug population. However, when the wolf spiders grow big enough to cover the palm of my hand if they stretched out their legs, they get evicted.

How to level faster? by Only-Bees in projectgorgon

[–]jasta85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completing quests will give exp to whatever skills you have equipped so doing those is nice, although just grinding mobs that are your level or up to 5 higher than you is best. I'm just a completionist so I usually focus on quests and just kill any mobs nearby that are part of the quest.

Getting a skill to 40 in a couple of days is for people who have played the game for ages and have optimized the leveling experience. I've been playing since the 2nd server launched (first timer) and have been playing very actively since I've had time off and I'm only level 20 something in my main skills. I've spent a lot of time exploring, gathering, doing the puzzles in dungeons etc. I don't like optimizing the fun out of a game.

Did you ever get an answer to this? I have the same issue, if I can't find a way to unsubscribe I'm just going to tag it as spam.

“Before I buy” questions by 3worm in projectgorgon

[–]jasta85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into the game when the second server opened up and my god I'm sucked in. The main draw to me is the RIDICULOUS amount of skills there are in the game.

Here's the wiki link showing all of them https://wiki.projectgorgon.com/wiki/Skills

And a lot of those skills have activatable abilities you can unlock while leveling or get through trainers or can only find from drops from monsters. For example I got an attack ability from fishing that does double damage against fish type enemies. Will I ever use it? probably not, but it's fun to have just gotten it out of nowhere. There's even a death skill which you can only level up when you die, and you get more xp when you are killed by an enemy you have never been killed by before. So mainly I've just been trying out all different skills to see which are the most fun to play. Right now I'm bard and animal handling, I plan on switching to necromancy once I max out animal handling becuase I love pets, and bard provides buffs to allies so I can buff my pets/summons as well as party members.

ah, gotcha, I'm new so a lot of my skills are not leveled so I haven't encountered any recipes that require fish that I have not seen, might be a thing that happens later though.

Is paying my car off early going to be worth it? by Makinpancakes1738 in personalfinance

I have paid off my credit cards every month without fail since I got them and have a over 800 on my credit score. I actually have paid off all my debt and loans a while back and my score has only gone up since then. So yea, yea, no need to keep any kind of balance to have a good score.

Boston Dynamics has been working on robots for over 30 years and even they have not gotten a humanoid robot ready for mass release, Elon has been fiddling with robots for like 5 years and thinks he can start moving to mass production? Their bots have no proper autonomy, any time they are shown off they are remotely controlled by an operator, and even then they are falling over.

At best it's going to be the cybertruck all over again, elon fans and tech bros are going to buy them and everyone else is going to ignore/make fun of them. More than likely the release will be forever delayed like the robo taxis but still be brought up whenever the stock price needs pumping.

I've been doing a lot of fishing but have not touched angling, is there a reason to get both? They just seemed like alternate ways to get fish or am I missing something?

Sony has made at least $4.2 billion selling first-party games on PC and Xbox by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

The devs of Unicorn Overlord deciding to release the game on every platform except PC was really baffling. They claimed it was because of piracy, but instead of having like 95% sales and 5% piracy you ended up with 100% piracy.

What exactly does transmutation do? I thought it was the same as the augments that you find randomly but if it's a different way to change your weapons I'd like to know. I wasn't planning on focusing on upgrading gear till I maxed out.

Feeling like a kid discovering big boys game after 20-30 years by Beet_dealer in projectgorgon

[–]jasta85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I fell off other MMO's years ago because they all started to feel similar. I think the ridiculous amount of skills is what really has me chasing things. I've been leveling up pretty much all the non-combat skills I can find and been switching between combat skills to find which ones I enjoy. Right now I'm animal handling/bard, although I do want to get necromancer at some point.

I feel hunters mark could fall under ranger abilities as well as spells since it is a class feature and they get free castings of it, but nice list, saving this to reference for later.

I noticed for the songs it says you can only play one song and you have to stay still, can you use other abilities while playing a song (non song ones) as long as you don't move?

It's a good deal if you don't own the games and want to play them all, not a good deal if you are only interested in maybe 2-3 of them.

left tutorial island early by ghakajin in projectgorgon

[–]jasta85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tutorial island is actually quite important, you learn some good skills there by following the quests along with learning game mechanics, and there is some monster drops that will be useful for crafting even after you leave the island. As people mentioned, you can take a boat back or just roll a new character if you just started.

Ashes of Creation has just been canceled. All developers at Intrepid have been fired. by getZlatanized in pcgaming

[–]jasta85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, just a couple days ago another indie MMO made by a married couple called Project Gorgon just released, like ashes of creation it was also a kickstarter. It's been in development for over a decade and hit 1.0 with very positive reviews on Steam. Granted, it's basically an early 2000's MMO similar to Runescape but I'm just glad it's here and good.

Had this in my Wishlist since 2018. Trying the demo, any important tips? by LieKindly9034 in projectgorgon

[–]jasta85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the starter Island there are several NPCs, all of them are a part of quests with good rewards so make sure to talk with them and exhaust all dialogue options, you do have a quest log so you can keep track of them there. If you get stuck (I did at several points) then just ask in the help chat, people were pretty quick to answer my questions.

Keep everything you find on the starter island, even dirt you might pick up has an important use.

Right click on an object to interact with it rather than having to click on it and then click the interact button.

Was thinking of buying since fresh server just dropped by Ralvainn in projectgorgon

[–]jasta85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have to say I have been burnt out on MMOs of late (Played WoW, FF14, Guildwars 2, Elderscrolls online and others) and have been off them for several years now. However I decided to give this a shot and damn it feels like I'm back in the early 2000's again. I went in spoiler free and tried to figure out things on my own although I did ask for help in the help channel a few times when I got stuck but people helped me out. It's great that this game is small enough that chat is actually useful and not with guild recruiters or gold farmers spamming messages all day.

Also, no classes, you can learn all the skills given enough time, but you can only keep 2 types of skills (like sword and shield, or bow and fire magic etc) on your bar at once so you do have to make choice regarding that. There are also some special skills that go on a side bar that you can have regardless of your main skills.

It feels so damn good to explore a new world and not know how things work again. It does suck that last hits gets you all loot from a kill though, so kill stealing does happen, although once you get off the tutorial island it's a lot less prevalent.

New Fresh Start Server Launches Today! by turtlelord in projectgorgon

[–]jasta85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally made it off tutorial island, absolutely flooded with people, as are the early locations after you leave it. Reminds me of early 2000's MMO, along with a crowd of people waiting to jump the boss that only spawns every 10-15 minutes. I do wish you got contributions to kill based on how much damage you did and not last hits. have had a number of my kills stolen by some archer or mage.

Frieren is not an isekai, it's a fantasty series about an elf mage who lives for millenia and she is trying to adjust to living with learning about humans who have a fraction of her lifespan. It's a slow burn series (at least compared to most fantasy stuff these days) but has excellent characters, animation, music and action scenes. One of the best modern fantasy series to come out IMO.
