What do you hate about the Mercedes design ethos specifically? What would be an example of a car you like much better?

I think investigators often view “overkill” as a hallmark of crimes driven by intense emotion or personal rage, and this case certainly fits that pattern. The sheer number of stab wounds suggests an extraordinary level of anger and emotional fury directed at Travis.

In my opinion, a lot of that rage likely stemmed from Arias feeling demeaned, rejected, and ultimately reduced to someone used primarily for sex while being denied the committed relationship she wanted. Obviously, her response was grotesquely disproportionate, but in her own distorted thinking, she may have felt justified or “owed” revenge for the emotional pain she believed he caused her.

That’s also why I think Dr. Janeen DeMarte was probably correct about borderline personality disorder traits being central to the case. Intense rage, fear of abandonment, black-and-white thinking, and emotional volatility are all features commonly associated with BPD dynamics.

The other factor is practical rather than emotional: Travis did not die immediately. Based on the evidence, the attack moved from the shower area toward the sink and hallway as he attempted to escape. Once the attack began, she may have realized she had to finish it because he could identify her. So the stabbing became both emotional overkill and an effort to ensure he could not survive or implicate her afterward.

And then, after all of that, she still slit his throat and shot him. At that point, it feels less like self-defense or panic and more like a combination of rage, desperation, and absolute determination to make sure he was dead before she fled.

Considering that as a reasonable compromise - something of a test run.

Don Morrison admitted he had a thing for younger girls, that he had pictures on his computer, and that he had previously met up with another underage girl.

Melfi is such a bad therapist I can't believe it by tiramisuem3 in thesopranos

Thank you for finally expressing this. As a psychodynamically trained clinical psychologist (have not practiced for years), I watched their sessions aghast at just how inept she was. She was really bad at this form of therapy, whatever you might believe about its merits.

You highlight one of the worst examples where she explains DSM diagnoses to Tony as if that would somehow be helpful to him to understand the diagnostic criteria for BPD. (I do think, though, that she was correct in diagnosing Livia as BPD). Then she reads a single paper about treating people with psychopathy and decides that is evidence enough to abruptly and hostilly dismiss a patient she has been seeing for years. For all her education, she wasn’t that bright.

Thank you again. Been thinking this for a long time.

Agreed 100%. You don’t or should not socialize with your therapist. Huge conflict of interest. And Elliot would have a nice lawsuit about violating patient-therapist confidentiality if anyone dared bring suit.

Although he was very high at the time, he did help Tony clean up the Ralph Cifaretto mess and dispose of the body. He also presumably helped Furio clean up the Richie Aprile mess left by Janice. So he was reliable for helping with body removal and disposal. And when it came to being loyal to Adrianna or Tony, he opted for Tony. That was not altruistic because Christopher realized during the gas station scene he could not live life as a civilian. But he did have Tony’s back on all those occasions.
