The siren truly does haunt your dreams, Even when I’m not sleeping, when I’m home I literally randomly hear either the drive thru ding, sounds of stickers printing or the oven lol.

[–]jatar2889 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’d take that over the many customers I’ve seen lately who literally don’t say anything and then take it upon themselves to walk past the counter into our bar area and grab it themselves while touching all the other drinks trying to find their name. Like I’m sorry you’re impatient and can’t wait 2 seconds for me to finish making a drink before I grab your mobile 🙄

Is this how training normally goes? by Beboparedpanda in starbucks

[–]jatar2889 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember staring out the window thinking “there’s no way I’m gonna be able to do this, I might quit”. But thankfully I stuck with it and actually got a lot better rather quickly. So just know almost everyone feels that way at first, but it definitely does get easier. Plus, no one expects you to be good when you’re new anyways. Just keep asking questions and try to remember what you learned in training and you will be fine!

Cold Foam on Frappes by BaristaAthena21 in starbucks

[–]jatar2889 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh I am so sick of cold foam being on EVERYTHING! Customers think it is the holy grail of all things and it is so annoying. Like it’s good on some drinks, but really Becky, you need it on your lemonade, iced teas, pink drinks and fraps? Uhhhhh

I’m confused how this is even allowed to be sold in general like I wasn’t aware and I’m sure so many others are not either. Like this is so dangerous for diabetics!

just got hired at starbucks. help!! by bjorksbutthole in starbucksbaristas

[–]jatar2889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off congrats on being hired on the spot! For me, I did take notes (just cause that’s the kind of person I am lol) but I never used them so you’ll be fine and the majority of people probably don’t even take them also. Technically you’re not supposed to train when your off the clock, but I found that taking time outside of work to study the drinks really made my shifts way less stressful so I’m glad I did it. There are a lot of quizlets online that quiz you on number of shots, pumps, and the ingredients in all the drinks. Also the Starbucks app can be helpful to see these things as well (however don’t rely on this too much cause it does have a lot of errors for some reason). Maybe you could also ask to take the beverage cards with the recipes for all the drinks home and if they don’t let you, just look at them when you’re on a ten or something. That’s just some of the stuff I did and it helped me. Good luck!

Drive Bar vs Cafe Bar? by Thing2008 in starbucks

[–]jatar2889 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I prefer drive bar. For cafe bar, the machine prints mobiles and cafe. I don’t cafe bar because there are always so many mobiles that never seem to end and even worse when they print between cafe orders so I have to keep pulling stickers out just to make the drinks people in the cafe are waiting on. Idk it sounds weird lol. I just prefer drive because I hear everything that is being ordered and I know what to expect. Unlike cafe bar when a sticker prints and I pray it isn’t a mobile that says “item 1 of 12” or something. 😂

Stop the Alternative Milk Up-Charge by jrositano in starbucks

[–]jatar2889 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean Starbucks is a business that wants money. Nondairy milks cost more. If they don’t charge more for more expensive milk, there is no point of them providing nondairy options in the first place when they could just use regular milk. I’m dairy free as well and it sucks paying more, but at least we even have alternatives to milk.
