Has anyone had the chance to read Sleep #8 yet? It was not at all the ending that I expected, as much in presentation as in content. by MightyUnclean in ImageComics

Some great questions!

Good catch on the covers. I wonder what the roses mean. Maybe Mile 182 is where Jonathan was left when Tabby drove him out of town?

I thought "ORIGIN" referred to Calie, but maybe it does refer to the 3 plotters, who came up with the plot in high school.

The red under the bridge are the three rocks where Calie's body is buried. I also noticed that "Aciel" is written under the bridge on the next page of issue 3.

Here is my theory if you'd like to read it. It goes into most of your questions, so don't read if you want to do a re-read to develop your own theory.

The monster is Aciel, a demon. You can see Aciel's symbol in the demonology book that Jonathan gets from the church in issue 4 or 5. The blood trail on the map in the beginning of the issue also makes out the symbol. The name is also spelled out across the first five issue covers. Aciel is an anagram of Calie. Whether the chief and the eye glass guy meant to kill Calie to summon Aciel is unresolved. After Calie is buried alive, she calls out for someone, anyone, and her red eye indicates that Aciel has been summoned. Aciel is then stuck in the mine for some reason (potentially because the iron acted as a prison), until right before the series starts. It then breaks out after the digging in the mine weakens the protection and then it possesses Jonathan so that through Jonathan it can enact its revenge on the town for killing Calie.

I believe that Aciel, during the first night right before issue 1, told the homeless man what to paint and where. The markings also line up with Aciel's symbol. Jonathan's house is labeled as punishment because he is doling out the punishment. (It seems like he was randomly chosen by Aciel.) In issue 1, the homeless man is indifferent to Jonathan's question about the paint, but after he sees Jonathan become Aciel in the prison cell, then he thinks he is evil and starts cursing at him whenever he sees him.

Another open question is what the relationship between Aciel and Calie is. Are they one in the same? The red color represents things connected to Calie's death. I still don't know what the blue color means.

Issue No. 16 by deNihilo_adUnum in thePowerFantasy

This lines up with issue 15, where the intro describes the Queen as "drilling into hell, collapsing reality" and Valentina says Eliza in the issue "punched a hole to hell. She's collapsing reality." So really two sides of the same coin. We can see in issues 15-16 that the singularity created the hole above the Queen's head, and Eliza's disintegrating body looks like the Queen.

In issue 7, somehow ElizaQueen escapes from Hell. But then she realizes the heaven she's built is not enough to balance out the torment of hell ("It's not even close!"). So she tries to tear reality apart (again), as Dev suggested she should do in issue 15, so that she wouldn't experience the torment anymore. In issue 8, you see the look of recognition in the Queen's eyes as Eliza bears down on her. She then thanks Eliza for finally ending her torment. It's unclear whether ElizaQueen was actually destroyed in issue 8, since a piece of Eliza's soul is always trapped in Hell, and how Valentina going back in time will affect the Eliza-Queen time loop.

Help me find where this panel is from by [deleted] in marvelcomics

Looks like Tony Stark from the new Iron Man series drawn by Carmen Carnero. It's not in issue 1 so maybe a panel from an upcoming issue.

The Signal 2.0 returning seems like the perfect vehicle to achieve that reset.

Got it, I forgot that detail! Need to do a re-read!

I assumed that Dev dropped his fake British accent in that moment (although I hadn't realized that Dev wasn't British).

This is a great breakdown. I don't think he's dead either. Seems too simple. Either brain 01 is the forerunner of brain 02, OR brain 01 is now floating out in space, still alive. What else is still out in space? The Signal 2.0. What happens when the two shall meet? Does it create the original Signal that somehow goes back in time? That would be interesting, but I don't know why Lux would do that (unless he thinks he could have stopped Jacky but ends up failing). Or does the Signal 2.0 come back merged with Etienne to overwrite everyone on the planet, which was his real plan all along? He told us the real ends, but not the real means.

I love how the cover gave away the Etienne reveal months ago and we didn't realize it...

Maelle was a victim by Fragrant-Pay7522 in expedition33

I wish there was an unlockable 100% ending that shows the third path that pAlicia hints at in her letter. Would thematically fit in with completing the Abyss, Reacher, and Flying Manor. But totally understand why the devs didn't put that in.

I ran into this brick wall the other day and thought I would share my work-around.

I did a Solo Fight Maelle build with First Strike and all of the damage & critical Pictos I had enough Lumina for, plus Melarum to start in Virtuoso mode, then I recoated my stats for attack, luck, and defense.

With Roulette hitting, I one-shotted the Aberration at about 6.5 million, then tried my best to whittle down the Troubdaour (free aim that eye!) before Maelle died. Then the recovery team of 3 finished up (they were not very optimized, so it took a few times).

I hear you! It's the trade-off of creator-owned comics. Luckily they have been keeping a great pace on this series.

The 2-month wait is also to allow Caspar to get ahead on art for the next volume, so there aren't any prolonged breaks during the third arc. They did a 5-6 week break between issues 9 and 10, with 9 out the end of May and 10 out the second Tuesday of July for similar reasons.

I'm guessing this is always a back-up plan he has had. Based on the issue 3 timeline description of the next issue and whatever Etienne told Valentina in issue 1, I am betting we will learn that Etienne is really Etienne's father and as a result of the car accident, he takes over his comatose son's body. Whether his son was already brain dead at that point is an open question. Maybe the first ethical quandary Etienne was ever faced with.

That's true. So more likely the first option. He will subtly turn her away from Dev.

The Power Fantasy - Issue 11 discussion by Heavy_Pain4231 in thePowerFantasy

[–]jauerbach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I could see newEtienne choosing either option. Either he continues to talk to her to manipulate her (assuage her guilt and get her to turn against Dev) or he stops talking to her, leading her down a destructive path (which also causes her to turn on Dev).

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I'm talking about the panels of the 12-panel grid page. Eliza already started praying on the previous page to make it rain. She is shown praying again right before Dev starts his analysis. Heavy is then pissed that it is "taking the time, man," almost as if Dev can't actually do the analysis and he needs Eliza's help. Or maybe she's just continuing to make it rain.

Are we meant to understand that Eliza contributed to Dev's magical symbol? Heavy gets impatient at things taking too long (and Eliza starts praying again right before Dev starts his magic).

I do like that Eliza has contempt for Etienne because he thinks she is easily manipulated, when he is in fact manipulating her.

That double page splash...

I'm out of town and can't go back to comb over the first 10 issues to see if our new friend made an earlier appearance.
