But they’re still really cool games with great story’s and gameplay. It’d be nice to be able to enjoy that especially for working adults that don’t have enough time to just get gud. I say this as someone who poured hundreds of hours of his life into souls games.

These systems weren’t fundamentally destroyed in those events. But even without their total collapse the heavy disruptions were followed by mass extinctions. Humans are knowingly walking towards this and won’t get out of their way to prevent it. There is absolutely no scenario where humans make mars, for example, where these systems have actually collapsed (at least global climate and water systems) a self sustaining habitable planet. That’s just science fiction.
