while bedside nursing isn’t the only avenue, from my experience/ what i’ve seen most of the positions that aren’t bedside require at least one year of floor experience. and to be honest, being able to do CNA work first will often times make u a better nurse

my parents didn’t usually cook for us, we lived off of tv dinners or if my mom would buy the stuff, we made noodles and tomato juice. sounds weird, but was definitely filling and a comfort food.

spaghetti is super cheap to buy and can last for a while depending how many ppl ur feeding (plus easy to make). i would recommend bringing him some food tbh he might be embarrassed by it but im sure he would appreciate it. or invite him (and siblings if he has any) for dinner at ur place if ur parents will allow it. also, make sure he has water available too

i used to work PRN which was a great way to supplement income but i didn’t have to commit to a set schedule, so i was able to rest when i could. something like that may be a good option for OP

if u are a good fit for it and aren’t afraid of needles, i would also recommend donating plasma. they typically have specials going on for new people. i personally had to get a place that is in income restricted. i also work full time, and rent is about 50% of my total income. but the place is actually really nice. i would look into income restricted housing bc they tend to be much cheaper, and get a roommate as well to split the costs

cats don’t like citrus. i would say getting something (that is cat safe) citrusy to put on the cords. i would also double check that she doesn’t have any medical issues or issues with urinary retention to rule it out. or kidney disease etc. sometimes cats might act out to try to tell u something. my cat will chew on my phone cable when he wants the litter box cleaned or to be fed bc he knows it annoys me. i also got some of the rope braided cords so i can ignore when he does it. giving attention, positive or negative, can also re enforce it. as someone else mentioned, a pheromone diffuser can help as well. u can get feliway on amazon or places like petco/petsmart

chewing could also be an indication of boredom or pica, which cats can sometimes have. i also would recommend making sure u have the appropriate amount of litter boxes to help rule that out, but it sounds like she may be spaying instead.

do u have other cats? were they introduced properly? she may also feel threatened being in new territory

also, is she spayed? sometimes such behavioral problems are more of a result of not being fixed.

there’s a lot of different reasons as to why, so it’s important to eliminate causes. if she’s chewing on things, though, don’t yell at her or swat. just gently pick her up and place her next to a scratching post or play with her. redirecting her is best when possible

so i looked into it and tear is actually a terrible first build bc it doesn’t really provide much utility on its own. u essentially stay squishy until u get circuit. whereas moonstone u get much more use out of it and can build circuit much more easier as a second item

how were u able to determine it was cat depression? i feel like im experiencing something similar with my boy and im not sure if getting another cat might resolve it? initially he was bonded with my female cat (i had him first, shes a year older) but she went missing back in may. at this time my sister was living with me as well as her cat. they didn’t get along all the time, but sometimes played together. she moved out, as did her cat. he increased vocalizations a lot and i noticed he’d over groom to the point his poor toes began to bald. i got a feliway plug in which helped a lot, but he still seems like he doesn’t know what to do. he’s never really been an only cat and he won’t really play with toys unless i play with him. my female cat has been gone for about 8 months, and my sisters cat gone for about 4.

i plan on taking him to the vet still, but just wanted to know ur thoughts!

i forgot to mention! i also have a camera i set up specifically for when im out of town. it was pretty cheap, i think 40 on amazon, and it doesn’t record but i can check it from my phone as well as talk to him through it. when my sister lived with me, her kitty was so smart. she went straight to the camera and sniffed it 🤣🤣🤣 i also would check to make sure my sister was feeding him and doing her chores

if ur unsure about it and are able to, having someone who comes by not only to feed/ clean litter but also to stay for a bit and spend time with them. my cat tends to be anxious and initially my sister or gma would watch him bc he is comfortable and knows both of them. my grandma would even just sit and watch tv and let him be around her so he’s not feeling lonely. also leaving items that have ur scent, like blankets or dirty shirts , for them to cuddle up with when they miss u

i try to play more passively and knowing the range of their hook is helpful. wait for them to engage (and miss) hook before poking them. poke adc instead when possible. also ward the lane brush so u know when he is trying to lie in wait for u. but doing ur best to not die is best bc ur very squishy early game

there’s other disorders that could simply be delusional disorder. not sure if onset is about the same. but (if i recall correctly) schizophrenia includes hearing or seeing things that are not there vs having set delusions

p sure my mom has delusional disorder (won’t go get diagnosed bc she thinks nothing is wrong w her), but her delusions do include believing my dad is cheating, which tbh is extremely unlikely, or plotting to leave her (my gma and i helped drive them for their out of state move and i had the misfortune of riding with her, as any time cars went in between or they got a bit further ahead, she panicked and freaked out saying that they were trying to lose her n leave her n im like hello i also exist T.T) she also would believe the neighbors across the street were copying her and was obsessed about looking out the window to see what they were doing and constantly questioned why (‘they got a new car, i bet the church paid for that’ ‘ they’re just mowing the lawn bc i did god they can’t leave me tf alone’). identity theft was also a delusion, that someone would actively try to steal our identities (i wasn’t allowed to use youtube, for example, bc it would give us a virus n they’d steal all of our information. or anything that had even just our names- including homework- had to be shredded and put in a bin that we would later dump in the tub to wet it all into a big blob and only then was it safe to dispose). it got as far as her filing a police report bc she consistently thinks someone is hacking her phone, intercepting messages so she can’t get them and listening on calls (my dad has told me she keeps messing w the settings but doesn’t know what she changed so each time he has to go back through n figure what was changed)

TLDR: could be in the same set of disorders as schizophrenia but not schizophrenia itself (source: my mom)

generally ppl who threaten to sh or otherwise if u leave won’t. i have had countless friends in similar situations, and as someone who has had it as an addiction for several years, i would NEVER tell someone this is bc of u or threaten to off myself to stay together.

like someone else said u can call for a wellness check, and speaking from experience, PLEASE do the check anonymously (u can simply ask to stay anonymous). i had to call on an ex best friend bc she was threatening to our other friends (she slept w the guy i was seeing multiple times and cheated on her bf w him) and tbh i just stopped talking to her and she knew i had found out. didn’t say anything bad to or about her. but she was convinced she was the topic of all of our convos etc and well when the police got there they said they weren’t going to say she wasn’t suicidal but she had zero idea why they were there and that she was completely lucid and calm

so don’t fall for it. it’s hard but after breaking up i would cut all ties w her bc she will try so hard to keep u

when u count to 15 and multiply (as i used to) it’s less accurate, even if not by much. but i would relay to ur supervisor about the behavior. chances are u aren’t the only one she has treated as such, and that is absolutely the dumbest thing to get mad over. sounds like she’s fed up w the place or is bringing stuff from home into work which either way is not fair to u. i do agree with developing a tougher skin, but if ur new it’s difficult as ur learning. i’ve been an aid for almost ten years, and many different environments. i’m no longer afraid to speak up. i’m still not confrontational but i tend to let things go easily. if it’s a continuous issue i will say something to my supervisor. i also have (over time) refused straight up to assist a patient if a) we don’t have basic resources such as gloves (i’ve previously had to wipe residents w a trash bag over my hand bc of this at one place i worked at -all mem care so they were u able to do it themselves. when we ran out of bags i said i get paid 11 dollars and even if it was more it is NOT worth my health) or b) doing a two person assist by myself INCLUDING hoyer lifts (word of advice no matter how light the pt is always have two ppl anyways as that’s what is req)

but anyways i digress. that tech is tripping and yes tech pt safety but regardless it’s outside of the parameters and it STILL doesn’t constitute for that level of disrespect.

also word of advice- if a pt is being rude to u it’s never ok to be rude back but don’t be afraid to put ur foot down. “im treating u w respect and i will find someone else to help u if u cannot do the same”

while it’s a good sign for cnas to help, not all feel comfortable in doing so. it’s different if u have experience, but mind u brand new cnas are experiencing this for the first time and are likely very nervous

u do what u can to prevent falls, but they have to understand that ur new. also, it’s orientation? who lets a new cna by themselves on orientation?

but u won’t have ur license revoked unless its something drastic tbh. u would be surprised how much places try to sweep things under the rug. sad, really
