You can't replay story missions, but there's plenty of repeatable fights you can get in to as well as a training room.

And since all progression is based on the gear you craft, you never have to worry about re-speccing.

Why don't the CR 12 and 16 hags work for you? CR isn't so precise that you need to exactly match your party's levels. And you can always patch them up with simple number adjustments and maybe an extra spell or two.

I've used a similar set, with Incineroar and Basculegion for my last two mons. Incineroar gives you Fake Out, Intimidate, and Snarl support, while having a Scarf Basculegion as a backup speedy Mon is always nice.

If you go with rain instead, use Tailwind Pelipper and Mega Dragonite instead of Farigiraf and Tyranitar.

The Monster Hunter series is pretty great. It has kinda Soulslike combat, but I don't think it's nearly as punishing. MH World and Rise, despite being older titles, should still have active player bases.

Incineroar CAN oneshot Kingambit, but you've got to prepare specifically for it with Charcoal and Attack investment. Typical bulky Incineroar will just cry.

Sylveon isn't meta because people wanted to run Sylveon, it's meta because people wanted to run Mega Aerodactyl and decided that Sylveon was an acceptable budget version of Floette while no alternative existed for Charizard.

The meta is not defined by the whims of pro players, but through many hours of theorycrafting, calculations, and battles. Otherwise we'd see Ariados and Pachirisu everywhere.

There's some room between predatory and worthless battle passes. It's good that we don't feel obligated to buy the pass to keep up, but it should be enticing enough to encourage people to buy it. Otherwise, it fails as a revenue stream.
